UpCountry Brewing began in 2016 by John Cochran, a craft beer industry veteran since the mid-1990's. John already has lots of beer-related jobs within his 20 years in brewing and he is extremely excited to obtain back to his roots by giving a small, local brewery focusing on good friends, fantastic beers and fun times.
UpCountry Brewing is a taproom, brewery and a music venue that you may find at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We would wish to say that we are brewing our beer in "West, West Asheville," since it is the brewery found furthest west.
UpCountry Brewing can offer a range of beer styles, which will include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and much more. We have over 20 types of beers on tap and we are still looking to create new beers that everybody will surely enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can offer flights, pints, goblets and also a 22-once pour in the taproom. Additionally, the brewery has beer to go for buy! Local Art And Music

In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. Other bands that we love to host include The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Wish to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Aside from live music, it is not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery has been known for live streaming music, but it is extra attention to when Phish plays. They pull down the big projection screen to stream the show and clear the chairs and tables in the music room so everybody can dance. The other known live streams that the brewery is focusing on are Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry encourages Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

UpCountry's latest logo re-design is the perfect thanks to the Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done a phenomenal job with designing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
If you don't know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
