UpCountry Brewing was established in 2016 by John Cochran and he is known in the craft beer industry since 1990's. John worked alongside beer-related jobs within his twenty years in brewing and he is quite thrilled to go back to his roots and provide a local brewery centering on fantastic beers, buddies and fun times. UpCountry Brewing is now located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it is a tap room, music venue and a brewery.
UpCountry Brewing can offer lots of beer styles, that will include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and more. With twenty of its own beers on tap, the brew house is consistently thinking about and creating new beers for Asheville to enjoy. Our extensive beer list is perfect for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativeness above all else along with daring recipes that everybody will surely enjoy. We've recently been infusing some of our brews with different syrups and flavors for an extra creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing a step further. We are all about experimenting and seeing what deliciousness we can create using the knowledge from each brewer!
Together with providing delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines along with a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everybody to enjoy. We have options for everybody so you do not have to be a hardcore beer geek in order to enjoy our alcohol. Together with liquor, UpCountry provides craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year depending on the season.
Together with brewing and selling delicious beer, UpCountry provides a full food menu featuring appetizers, pizzas, burgers, salads, hot dogs, soups, and even meals for dogs. We have got dessert options for the sweet tooths out there, too! Our wide menu variety provides something for everybody! We are also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even though you're on a diet, we are going to do our best to accommodate you. We have plenty of options for the whole family, along with kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for family and friends to enjoy.
When you've worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to meet up with friends or family and satisfy your hunger. After devouring your lunch, dinner, or snack, enjoy corn hole or one of the many activities we have got scheduled at the brewery. Aside from live music, we have got a yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry can pick a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry has worked with organizations like Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will host the pint night with a unique glass that will be changed every week. Clients purchase a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with ten percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is essential, and these pint nights are just one way for the brewery to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is actually supporting local art and music in Asheville and all the neighboring places like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly together with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will display one artist each month to show their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and buy. Aside from the month long campaign, the artist will also get a delegated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can present and also discuss their work along a pint glass featuring the work of the artist. UpCountry will invariably value the support of local music, art and beer and they will continue to support all of these. Aside from hosting live music, it is already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery was recognized for live streaming music, but it is sensitive to Phish plays. They're going to pull down the huge projection screen in order to stream the show and clear all the chairs and tables in the music room so everybody can dance freely. Other live streams the brewery is recognized for include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will invariably encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been high quality thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an exceptional job with developing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
If you do not know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Cochran will surely wear his jersey so you should keep an eye out.
