Asheville Brewery: Guidelines For Beginners
The main mission of UpCountry Brewing is to actually help produce terrific experiences while we are showing our passion in crafting beer, local music and more. We are always doing this by centering on the Carolina mountain region where we are operating.

UpCountry Brewing was set up in 2016 by John Cochran and he is known in the craft beer industry since nineteen nineties. John actually worked with beer-related jobs in his twenty years in brewing and he is very thrilled to return to his roots by offering a small, local brewery centering on fun times, terrific beers and buddies. UpCountry Brewing is now located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it is a tap room, music venue and a brewery.
UpCountry Brewing can offer a range of beer styles, which would include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and many more. We have over 20 kinds of beers on tap and we are still planning to produce new beers that everybody will absolutely enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can provide goblets, pints, flights and a 22-ounce pour in the taproom. In addition, the brewery has beer to go for buy! Beer to go features a growler with your preference of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer might be found all over town in several supermarkets, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and neighboring places.
Our extensive beer list is ideal for beer nerds everywhere. We always value creativeness and daring recipes along with those go-to, easy drinking styles that everybody would enjoy. We have been infusing a lot of our brews with various syrups and flavors that can offer an extra creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions, along with a pilot brew system to take brewing an extra step further. We always concentrate on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we might make with the use of the knowledge from the brewers.
Aside from this, we offer delicious beer and UpCountry also provides red and white wines and a full liquor bar of gin, vodka, whiskey, tequila and others. You don't need to be a full on beer geek in order to enjoy our alcohol since we have selections for everybody. Together with liquor, UpCountry provides craft signature cocktails that rotate through the year depending on the season.
Aside from brewing and selling beer, UpCountry can offer a full food menu that features appetizers, burgers, pizzas, salads, soups, hot dogs and meals for dogs. We also have dessert selections for the sweet tooths out there, too! Our wide menu variety provides something for everybody! We are also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even when you're actually on a diet, we are going to try everything to accommodate you. We have plenty of selections for the entire family, along with kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for family and friends to enjoy.
When you have worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the best place to interact with family or friends and satisfy your hunger. After devouring your lunch, dinner, or snack, enjoy corn hole or one of the lots of activities we have scheduled at the brewery. Together with live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry prefers a different local nonprofit to represent their 'Miracle Pint Night' each Thursday. UpCountry has worked with organizations such as Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry hosts the pint night with a unique glass that varies week by week. Buyers can purchase a featured beer and they could also keep the glass, with 10 percent profit going to the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is absolutely essential and the pint nights will be an excellent way to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the neighboring places like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will show off one artist every month to show their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and buy. Together with a month long campaign, each artists gets a delegated Pint Night at the brewery along with at Bad Craft. The artist of the month can present and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist will be available. UpCountry will always value the support of local music, art and beer and they'll continue to support all of these. Community and business relationships are incredibly essential to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, along with the UpCountry staff, so the brewery anticipates continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is proud to give live, local music every night. Once you've taken the family and friends to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We are always proud to host solo musicians such as Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We are even hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. It's going to include several bands such as The Paper Crowns, The Dirty Dead and Phuncle Sam. Other bands that we love to host include The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Wish to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Aside from live music, it is not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery was recognized for live streaming music, but it is sensitive to Phish plays. They're going to pull down the huge projection screen in order to stream the show and clear all the chairs and tables in the music room so everybody can dance freely. The other known live streams that the brewery is centering on are Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry encourages Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

All of our music can have no cover charge. UpCountry doesn't wish to limit the live music to have a cover charge, which is the reason why our events are free to public.

UpCountry Brewing is well recognized for being family and kid friendly. We have a huge outdoor patio space with games for the kiddos along with a cornhole set for family and friends to enjoy. Our patio and courtyard are dog friendly, so bring the pup too!
At UpCountry Brewing, we always think that beer and outdoors are related. UpCountry Brewing always value the outdoor activities that Asheville can provide from floating down the river to trying the mountain trail. A lot of Asheville residents and visitors love to stay at our outdoor area.

UpCountry Brewing is a brewery located in West Asheville and it is one of the best spots to stay and relax. Found on Haywood Road in West Asheville, we are encompassed by thousands of neighbors and are proud to be their 'neighborhood bar' for parties, huge gatherings, or simply having a beer with friends.
Think of UpCountry when you've exited Highway 26 and you're coming up Patton... but especially think of UpCountry when you're craving a cold, craft beer. We are right across from our good friends at The Odditorium, a West Asheville staple that you should totally take a look at before or after you're at our place.
For the folks who are only passing through, UpCountry can offer a welcoming and personable experience. We have a friendly and certified staff so we understand everything about beer. Our beer-tenders are able to provide suggestions depending on the kinds of beer you and your friends enjoy. It's known as the Beer City Capital of the United States.
UpCountry Brewing can offer beer tours by special request and you may check our website for this. Along with beer tastings and a tour of the new taproom, you may get a guided tour of the brew house and a crash course about how you may make and produce beer. Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been top notch thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an exceptional job with developing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
For those who do not know, UpCountry Brewing's owner, John Cochran, is a DAWG Alum! UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. You should keep an eye out because Cochran will absolutely wear his jersey.
