UpCountry Brewing began in 2016 by John Cochran, a craft beer industry veteran since the mid-1990's. John has worked a lot of beer-related jobs in his 20+ years in brewing (including co-founding Terrapin Beer Company), and he is excited to acquire back to his roots by offering a small, local brewery with a spotlight on fun times, good friends, and terrific beers.
UpCountry Brewing is a brewery, taproom, and music venue located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We like to say that we brew our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it is the brewery located furthest west before leaving Beer City itself.
UpCountry Brewing can offer a range of beer styles, which will include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and many more. We have got over 20 kinds of beers on tap and we're still seeking to create new beers that everybody will surely enjoy. UpCountry Brewing will offer goblets, pints, flights and a 22-ounce pour in the taproom. Additionally, the brewery has beer to go for buy! Beer to go features a growler with your choice of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly together with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will display one artist each month to show their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and buy. Aside from the month long campaign, the artist will also get a delegated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month is there and able to discuss their work, and a pint glass featuring the artist's work is available for buy. UpCountry will always value the support of local music, art and beer and they will continue to support all of these. UpCountry brewing is always proud to provide live, local music on a nightly basis. In addition to hosting live music, it is no secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans! The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They're going to pull down the big projection screen to be able to stream the show and clear all the chairs and tables in the music room so everybody can dance freely. The other known live streams that the brewery is focusing on are Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry's latest logo re-design have been the best and it is all thanks to Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done a phenomenal job with designing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are a lot of canning designs on the way so you need to stay tuned.
If you don't have any idea yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is definitely a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. You have to keep an eye out because Cochran will surely wear his jersey.
