UpCountry Brewing was first established in 2016 by craft beer industry veteran John Cochran. John already has a lot of beer-related jobs within his 20 years in brewing and he is extremely excited to acquire back to his roots by giving a small, local brewery focusing on good friends, fantastic beers and fun times.
UpCountry Brewing is a brewery, taproom, and music venue found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We like to claim that we brew our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it's the brewery located furthest west prior to leaving Beer City itself.
UpCountry Brewing may offer a lot of beer styles, that might include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and more. We have over 20 kinds of beers on tap and we are still planning to produce new beers that everybody will surely enjoy. UpCountry provides flights, goblets, pints, and even a twenty-two ounce pour in the taproom. Also, the brewery has beer to go ready for buy. Beer to go will include a growler with your choice of beer or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Along with the taproom, the beer of UpCountry could be present in various towns and supermarkets, bottle shops and bars positioned in Asheville, along with the towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and neighboring areas.
Our extensive beer list is suitable for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativeness more than anything else as well as daring recipes that everybody will surely enjoy. We have been infusing some of our brews with various syrups and flavors which will offer an additional creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions, as well as a pilot brew system to take brewing an additional step further. We are all about experimenting and seeing what deliciousness we can produce using the knowledge from each brewer!

When you've worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the perfect place to meet up with friends or family and satisfy your hunger. After eating your dinner, lunch or snack, you can try the corn hole or other activities that we have scheduled at the brewery. Aside from live music, we also offer yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry can pick a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry has worked with organizations including Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry can be hosting the pint night with a unique glass which will change every week. Clients will surely purchase a featured beer and they could keep the glass. The ten percent of the sales can be going to the nonprofit organizations. At UpCountry, community is essential, and these pint nights are only one way for the brewery to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is actually supporting local art and music in Asheville and all the neighboring areas including Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will showcase one artist every month to show their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and buy. Aside from the month long campaign, the artist can also get a delegated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can display and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist can be available. UpCountry values the support of local art, music, and beer, and will continue to exhibit their support for all of these avenues of Asheville. Community and business relationships are essential for John Cochran, the owner of UpCountry, along with the support of the staff so the brewery will always look forward to continue the Pint Nights.
UpCountry brewing is proud to give live, local music every night. If you will take your family and friends members to tourist spots including Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, you can always bring them to UpCountry for a night of Bluegrass, Music bingo, Open Mic, and live local music. We like to host solo musicians including Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We even host those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. We are also hosting other bands like Mama Danger, Cat and Crow, Astral Plainsmen, Sirius B., The Dirty Badgers, The Junk Drawer, The Free Wheelin' Mamas, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Cyndi Lou and The Wish to, Moonlight Street Folk and more.
In addition to hosting live music, it is no secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans! The brewery was recognized for live streaming music, but it's responsive to Phish plays. They usually pull down the big projection screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! Other live streams the brewery is recognized for include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

All of our music could have no cover charge. UpCountry doesn't wish to limit the live music to have a cover charge, which is the reason why our events are free to public.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been first class thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done a phenomenal job with designing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
If you don't have any idea yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is actually a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. You must keep an eye out because Cochran will surely wear his jersey.
