UpCountry Brewing was established in 2016 by John Cochran and he is known in the craft beer industry since 1990's. John actually worked alongside beer-related jobs in his 20 years in brewing and he is quite thrilled to return to his roots by providing a small, local brewery centering on fun times, fantastic beers and buddies. UpCountry Brewing is currently found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and this is a tap room, brewery and a music venue.
UpCountry Brewing can offer plenty of beer styles, that would include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and more. With twenty of its own beers on tap, the brew house is continually thinking about and making new beers for Asheville to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can offer goblets, pints, flights and a 22-ounce pour in the taproom. Additionally, the brewery has beer to go for buy! Beer to go includes a growler with your preference of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer can be found all over town in several supermarkets, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and neighboring places.
Our extensive beer list is suitable for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativeness above all else along with daring recipes that everybody will absolutely enjoy. We've recently been infusing a lot of our brews with several syrups and flavors for an additional creative kick. The brewery also contains a Randall for infusions and also a pilot brew system to take the brewing one step further. We are centering on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we can produce using the knowledge from every brewer.
Together with providing delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines along with a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everybody to enjoy. Whatever your dietary restrictions, we'll do our best to accommodate you! We've got plenty of selections for the entire family, along with kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for family and friends to enjoy.
When you have worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to connect with family or friends and satisfy your hunger. After eating your dinner, lunch or snack, you can try the corn hole or other activities that we've got scheduled at the brewery. Aside from live music, we've got a yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Every month, UpCountry will choose a different local nonprofit that would represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry already worked with various organizations like Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School.
On Thursdays, UpCountry will host the pint night along with a unique glass. Clients can purchase a featured beer and they will be able to keep the glass. The 10 percent of the sales of that beer can go to the featured nonprofit organization. Community is essential for UpCountry since they consider their pint nights as a method to give back to the community.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing supports local art and music in Asheville and close, neighboring places, such as Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will display one artist every month to show their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and buy. Aside from a month long campaign, every artist will get a delegated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month is there and able to discuss their work, and a pint glass featuring the artist's work is available for buy. UpCountry will always value the support of local music, art and beer and they will continue to support all of these. Community and business relationships are really essential to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, along with the UpCountry staff, so the brewery looks forward to continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is proud to give live, local music every night. Once you've taken the family and friends to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We love hosting solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We even host those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. Other bands that we love to host include The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Wish to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Aside from live music, it is not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery was known for live streaming music, but it is sensitive to Phish plays. They pull down the huge projection screen to stream the show and clear the chairs and tables in the music room so everybody can dance. The other known live streams that the brewery is centering on are Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design is the perfect thanks to the Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did a great job in developing the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. You should stay tuned because there are several more canning designs which are on the way.
If you do not have any idea yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is definitely a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. You should keep an eye out because Cochran will absolutely wear his jersey.
