The mission of UpCountry Brewing is to help produce terrific experiences while we share our passion to craft beer, local music and for getting outside. UpCountry Brewing was set up in 2016 by John Cochran, who is known as a craft beer industry veteran since the mid 90s. John worked with beer-related jobs in his more than Twenty years in brewing and he is very excited to acquire back to his root by giving a small, local brewery with a spotlight on fun times, terrific beers and good friends. UpCountry Brewing is located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it is known as a music venue, brewery and a tap room.
UpCountry Brewing provides numerous types of beer styles, including saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts, and more. With about 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is thinking of making new beers for everybody to enjoy. UpCountry provides flights, goblets, pints, and even a twenty-two ounce pour in the taproom. Also, the brewery has beer to go ready for buy. Beer to go will include a growler with your selection of beer or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with the taproom, the beer of UpCountry might be present in different towns and supermarkets, bottle shops and bars positioned in Asheville, along with the towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and neighboring locations.
Our extensive beer list is great for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativeness above all else in addition to daring recipes that everybody will absolutely enjoy. We've recently been infusing a lot of our brews with different syrups and flavors for an additional creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing a step further. We are all about experimenting and seeing what deliciousness we can produce using the knowledge from each brewer!
Along with offering delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines in addition to a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everybody to enjoy. You do not have to be a hard core beer geek in order to enjoy our alcohol since we have choices for everybody. Along with liquor, UpCountry provides craft signature cocktails that rotate through the year according to the season.
Along with brewing and selling delicious beer, UpCountry provides a full food menu featuring appetizers, pizzas, burgers, salads, hot dogs, soups, and even meals for dogs. We even have dessert choices for the individuals who love sweets. Our wide menu variety provides something for everybody! We are also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even when you are actually on a diet, we are going to do everything to accommodate you. We have plenty of choices for the whole family, in addition to kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for family and friends to enjoy.
Once you have worked up an appetite by hiking at the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the perfect place to meet with your friends and satisfy your hunger. After eating your dinner, lunch or snack, you can try the corn hole or other activities that we have scheduled at the brewery. Along with live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry chooses a different local nonprofit to represent their 'Miracle Pint Night' each Thursday. UpCountry definitely worked with various organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will host the pint night with a unique glass that can be changed every week. Buyers purchase a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with ten percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is absolutely essential and the pint nights will be a good strategy to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the neighboring locations like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will be featuring one artist a month to show their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for buy and display. Aside from the month long campaign, the artist can also get a delegated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can present and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist will be available. UpCountry will always value the support of local music, art and beer and they will continue to support all of these. Community and business relationships are essential for John Cochran, the owner of UpCountry, along with the support of the staff so the brewery will always look forward to continue the Pint Nights.
UpCountry brewing is proud to provide live, local music every night. If you'll take your family and friends members to tourist spots such as Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, you can always bring them to UpCountry for a night of Bluegrass, Music bingo, Open Mic, and live local music. We are always proud to host solo musicians such as Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We even host those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. It will include different bands such as The Dirty Dead, The Paper Crowns and Phuncle Sam. We are also hosting other bands like Mama Danger, Cat and Crow, Astral Plainsmen, Sirius B., The Dirty Badgers, The Junk Drawer, The Free Wheelin' Mamas, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Cyndi Lou and The Wish to, Moonlight Street Folk and more.
Along with hosting live music, it's no secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans! The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They usually pull down the large projection screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! Other live streams the brewery is recognized for include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry encourages Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

We provide all our music with no cover charge. UpCountry does not wish to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

UpCountry Brewing is well recognized for being family and kid friendly. We have a large outdoor patio space with games intended for children and a cornhole set for family and friends to enjoy. Our patio and courtyard are dog friendly, so bring the pup too!

UpCountry Brewing always pay attention to the outdoor activities that Asheville can offer from floating down the river to climbing the mountain trail. Found on Haywood Road in West Asheville, we are encompassed by thousands of neighbors and are proud to be their 'neighborhood bar' for parties, big gatherings, or simply having a beer with friends.
Think of UpCountry when you've exited Highway 26 and you're coming up Patton... but particularly think of UpCountry when you're craving a cold, craft beer. We are just right across The Odditorium, which is a West Asheville staple that you can visit before or after you come to our place.
For those who are just passing through, UpCountry can offer you a welcoming and personable experience. Our staff is friendly and Cicerone certified, meaning we are knowledgeable in all things beer! Our beer-tenders are able to provide suggestions depending on the kinds of beer you and your friends enjoy. After all, you did venture to the Beer City Capital of the United States!
UpCountry Brewing can offer beer tours by special request and you can check our website for this. Along with beer tastings and a tour of the new taproom, you'll obtain a guided tour of the brew house and in addition to a 'Beer 101' crash course in the way to make and produce beer. Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design is the perfect thanks to the Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done a phenomenal job with creating the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. You need to stay tuned as there are several more canning designs that are on the way.
If you do not know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has now become a go to spot in Asheville in watching the Georgia Bulldogs. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
