UpCountry Brewing started by John Cochran in 2016 and he is popularly referred to as one of the best in the craft beer industry since nineteen nineties. John dealt with beer-related jobs within his 20 years in brewing and he is extremely excited to return to his roots and offer a local brewery centering on great beers, good friends and fun times. UpCountry Brewing is now located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it is a tap room, music venue and a brewery.
UpCountry Brewing can offer lots of beer styles, that could include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and more. With twenty of its own beers on tap, the brew house is continually thinking up and making new beers for Asheville to enjoy. UpCountry offers flights, goblets, pints, and even a twenty-two ounce pour in the taproom. Additionally, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go features a growler with your preference of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with the taproom, the beer of UpCountry can be located in several towns and grocery stores, bottle shops and bars located in Asheville, together with the towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding places.
We have got our extensive beer list that's perfect for beer nerds everywhere. We always value creativity and daring recipes together with those go-to, easy drinking styles that everyone would enjoy. We have got been infusing a lot of our brews with various syrups and flavors that will provide an additional creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions, along with a pilot brew system to take brewing an additional step further. We are centering on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we can produce using the knowledge from every brewer.
Together with offering delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines along with a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. We have got choices for everyone so you do not need to be a hardcore beer geek to be able to enjoy our alcohol. Together with liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate through the year according to the season.
Aside from brewing and selling beer, UpCountry can offer a full food menu that features appetizers, burgers, pizzas, salads, soups, hotdogs and meals for dogs. We even have dessert choices for the folks who love sweets. Our wide menu variety can offer something new for everyone we are also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Whatever your dietary restrictions, we'll do our best to accommodate you! We have got plenty of choices for the whole family, along with kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.
When you have worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to connect to family or friends and satisfy your hunger. After consuming your lunch, dinner, or snack, enjoy corn hole or one of the a lot of activities we have scheduled at the brewery. Together with live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry selects a different local nonprofit to represent their 'Miracle Pint Night' each Thursday. UpCountry has worked with organizations such as Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry can be hosting the pint night with a unique glass that will change every week. Customers can buy a featured beer and they can also keep the glass, with 10 percent profit going to the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are only one method for the brewery to provide back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is actually supporting local art and music in Asheville and all the surrounding places such as Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery can be presenting one artist a month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for purchase and display. Aside from a month long campaign, every artist will get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can present and also discuss their work along a pint glass featuring the work of the artist. UpCountry values the support of local art, music, and beer, and will continue to demonstrate their support for all of these avenues of Asheville. Community and business relationships are really important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, along with the UpCountry staff, so the brewery looks forward to continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is proud to give live, local music every night. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We are always proud to host solo musicians such as Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We even host those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. We have got other bands that we love to host like The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Together with hosting live music, it's no secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans! The brewery was noted for live streaming music, but it is responsive to Phish plays. They typically pull down the huge projector screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! The other known live streams that the brewery is centering on are Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry encourages Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

We offer all our music with no cover charge. UpCountry doesn't want to limit the live music to have a cover charge, which is the reason why our events are free to public.

UpCountry Brewing values being family and kid friendly. We have got a huge outdoor patio space with games for the kiddos along with a cornhole set for family and friends to enjoy. Our patio along with courtyard are also dog friendly.

UpCountry's latest logo re-design have been the best and it is all thanks to Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an outstanding job with developing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. You have to stay tuned because there are several more canning designs which are on the way.
If you do not know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Cochran will certainly wear his jersey so you have to keep an eye out.
