UpCountry Brewing began in 2016 by John Cochran, a craft beer industry veteran since the mid-1990's. John already has a lot of beer-related jobs within his 20 years in brewing and he is extremely excited to acquire back to his roots by providing a small, local brewery focusing on good friends, fantastic beers and fun times.
UpCountry Brewing is a brewery, taproom, and music venue found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We like to say that we brew our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it's the brewery located furthest west before leaving Beer City itself.
UpCountry Brewing can offer a wide range of beer styles which would include saisons, sours, porters, IPAs, stouts and much more. We have about 20 beers at the tap and we are always making new beers for the locals of Asheville. UpCountry Brewing can offer goblets, pints, flights and also a 22 ounce pour in the taproom.
Also, the brewery have some beers to go available. This includes a growler with your choice of beer or cans of the Mangose, Hop Dread Red IPA, UpCo Lager or Bogey Free Session IPA. Apart from hosting live music, it's already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They generally pull down the big projection screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! Other live streams the brewery is really known for would include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did a great job in designing the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. There are tons of canning designs on the way so you must stay tuned.
For those who don't know, UpCountry Brewing's owner, John Cochran, is a DAWG Alum! UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Cochran will unquestionably wear his jersey so you should keep an eye out.
