UpCountry Brewing was first established in 2016 by craft beer industry veteran John Cochran. UpCountry Brewing is a taproom, brewery and a music venue that you can find at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We like to claim that we brew our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it is the brewery located furthest west prior to leaving Beer City itself.

UpCountry Brewing provides numerous types of beer styles, including saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts, and more. With twenty of its own beers on tap, the brew house is continually thinking up and creating new beers for Asheville to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing may offer goblets, pints, flights and a 22-ounce pour in the taproom. Also, the brewery has beer to go ready for buy. Beer to go will include a growler with your choice of beer or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. In addition to availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer could be found all over town in various supermarkets, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and neighboring areas.

We have our extensive beer list that's perfect for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativeness and daring recipes as well as those go-to, easy drinking styles that anyone can enjoy. We've recently been infusing some of our brews with various syrups and flavors for an additional creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing one step further. We are all about experimenting and seeing what deliciousness we can produce using the knowledge from each brewer!

Apart from this, we offer delicious beer and UpCountry also provides red and white wines and a full liquor bar of gin, vodka, whiskey, tequila and others. In addition to liquor, UpCountry provides craft signature cocktails that rotate through the year according to the season.

Food

In addition to brewing and selling delicious beer, UpCountry provides a full food menu featuring appetizers, pizzas, burgers, salads, hot dogs, soups, and even meals for dogs. If you love sweets, we also have different dessert choices available for you. Our wide menu variety provides something for everybody! We are also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Whatever your dietary restrictions, we are going to do our best to accommodate you! We have plenty of choices for the entire family and we are kid and dog friendly that you can enjoy.

When you have worked up an appetite by hiking at the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to speak to your friends and satisfy your hunger. After devouring your lunch, dinner, or snack, enjoy corn hole or one of the lots of activities we've got scheduled at the brewery. Apart from live music, we've got a yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.

Community

Every month, UpCountry can be selecting a local nonprofit organization that will represent the "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry worked alongside various organizations including Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. Every Thursday, UpCountry hosts the pint night along with a unique glass that varies weekly. Clients can purchase their featured beer and they could also keep the glass. The 10 percent coming from the sales of the beer will go to the nonprofit organization. UpCountry is doing this since they wish to use pint nights to provide back to the community.

Local Art And Music

UpCountry Brewing supports local art and music in Asheville and close, neighboring areas, including Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.

In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist monthly with Bad Craft, an artist shop situated in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will showcase one artist every month to show their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and buy. Apart from the month long campaign, the artist can also get a delegated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month is there and able to discuss their work, and a pint glass featuring the artist's work is available for buy. UpCountry values the support of local art, music, and beer, and will continue to exhibit their support for all of these avenues of Asheville. Music

UpCountry brewing is always proud to provide live, local music on a nightly basis. We are always proud to host solo musicians including Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We also love hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes! These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. Other bands that we love to host include The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Wish to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.

Apart from live music, it is not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery has been known for live streaming music, but it is extra attention to when Phish plays. They usually pull down the big projection screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! Other live streams the brewery is definitely known for could include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an exceptional job with designing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!

Georgia Bulldogs

If you don't have any idea yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is definitely a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
