UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran, referred to as a craft beer industry veteran since the 1990s. John already has plenty of beer-related jobs within his 20 years in brewing and he is extremely excited to get back to his roots by supplying a small, local brewery focusing on good friends, great beers and fun times.
UpCountry Brewing is a taproom, brewery and a music venue that you may find at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We like to state that we brew our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it's the brewery located furthest west prior to leaving Beer City itself.
UpCountry Brewing offers a wide variety of beer styles, including saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts, and more. With approximately 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is considering making new beers for everyone to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing may offer goblets, pints, flights and a 22-ounce pour in the taproom. Also, the brewery has beer to go ready for purchase. Beer to go will include a growler with your choice of beer or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with the taproom, the beer of UpCountry can be present in various towns and grocery stores, bottle shops and bars located in Asheville, together with the towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding areas.
Our extensive beer list is suitable for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity more than anything else as well as daring recipes that everyone will unquestionably enjoy. We are infusing a lot of our brews with various syrups and flavors which will offer an additional creative kick. The brewery also includes a Randall for infusions and also a pilot brew system to take the brewing a step further. We are all about experimenting and seeing what deliciousness we can create using the knowledge from each brewer!
Aside from this, we offer delicious beer and UpCountry also offers red and white wines and a full liquor bar of gin, vodka, whiskey, tequila and others. In addition to liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate through the year according to the season.
Aside from brewing and selling beer, UpCountry will offer a full food menu that features appetizers, burgers, pizzas, salads, soups, hot-dogs and meals for dogs. We also have dessert choices for the sweet tooths out there, too! Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even though you are on a diet, we are going to do our best to accommodate you. We've got a lot of choices for the entire family and we are kid and dog friendly that you may enjoy.
When you've worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to meet up with friends or family and satisfy your hunger. After you eat your dinner, lunch or snack, you may always try our corn hole and other activities scheduled at the brewery. Aside from live music, we also offer yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Every month, UpCountry can choose a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry definitely worked with different organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will be hosting the pint night with a unique glass that will change every week. Customers will unquestionably buy a featured beer and they could keep the glass. The 10 percent of the sales will be going to the nonprofit organizations. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are only one method for the brewery to provide back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing helps local art and music in Asheville and close, surrounding areas, like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly together with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery showcases one artist every month to display their artwork in UpCountry's taproom for display as well as for purchase. Aside from the month long campaign, the artist can also get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month is present and able to discuss their work, and a pint glass featuring the artist's work is available for purchase. UpCountry will invariably value the support of local music, art and beer and they're going to continue to support all of these. We like to host solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We also love hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes! It is going to include various bands like The Paper Crowns, The Dirty Dead and Phuncle Sam. We also have other bands that we love to host like The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Aside from live music, it's not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery was known for live streaming music, but it's sensitive to Phish plays. They usually pull down the big projector screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! The other known live streams that the brewery is focusing on are Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry encourages Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

We offer all our music with no cover charge. UpCountry doesn't want to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

UpCountry Brewing is well known for being family and kid friendly. We've got a large outdoor patio space with games which are made for kids and also a cornhole set for the entire family to enjoy. Our patio as well as courtyard are also dog friendly.

Our beer-tenders are able to offer suggestions based on the kinds of beer you and your friends enjoy. After all, you did venture to the Beer City Capital of the United States!
UpCountry Brewing will offer beer tours by special request and you may check our website for this. Aside from beer tastings and a tour in the new taproom, you will be able to get a guided tour of the brew house and a crash course about how to make and produce beer. In addition to the beer making process, you will learn what UpCountry's equipment does, and how each beer is brewed, from the recipe invention to kegging out the finished product in either cans or kegs.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design is the ideal thanks to the Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done a phenomenal job with designing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
If you do not know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
