UpCountry Brewing was first established in 2016 by craft beer industry veteran John Cochran. John has a wide experience when it comes to beer-related jobs because he's been in this industry for more than 20 years so he is quite excited to go back to his roots by providing a local brewery focusing on great beer, fun times and good friends.
UpCountry Brewing is a taproom, brewery and a music venue that you may find at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We may want to claim that we are brewing our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it is the brewery found furthest west.
UpCountry Brewing offers a number of beer styles, including saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts, and more. With about 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is thinking about making new beers for everyone to enjoy. UpCountry offers flights, goblets, pints, and even a twenty-two ounce pour in the taproom. Furthermore, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go features a growler with your choice of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Along with the taproom, the beer of UpCountry could be located in several towns and grocery stores, bottle shops and bars situated in Asheville, together with the towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding areas.
We have our extensive beer list that is perfect for beer nerds everywhere. We always value creativity and daring recipes along with those go-to, easy drinking styles that everyone would enjoy. We've lately been infusing a lot of our brews with several syrups and flavors for an additional creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing one step further. We always concentrate on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we will make with the use of the knowledge from the brewers.
Apart from this, we are providing delicious beer and UpCountry provides red and white wines and also a full liquor bar of vodka, whiskey, gin, tequila and others. We have options for everyone so you don't need to be a hardcore beer geek to be able to enjoy our alcohol. In addition to liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year according to the season.

Once you have worked up an appetite by hiking at the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the perfect place to speak to your friends and satisfy your hunger. Each month, UpCountry chooses a different local nonprofit to represent their 'Miracle Pint Night' each Thursday. UpCountry certainly worked with different organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will be hosting the pint night with a unique glass that can change every week. Customers can buy a featured beer and they can also keep the glass, with 10 percent profit going to the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is absolutely important and these pint nights will be a method for the brewery to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the surrounding areas like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist monthly with Bad Craft, an artist shop situated in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will be exhibiting one artist a month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for purchase and display. In addition to a month long campaign, each artists gets a designated Pint Night at the brewery as well as at Bad Craft. The artist of the month can present and also discuss their work along a pint glass featuring the work of the artist. UpCountry will always value the support of local music, art and beer and they're going to continue to support all of these. Community and business relationships are incredibly important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, as well as the UpCountry staff, so the brewery anticipates continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is proud to offer live, local music almost every night. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We love hosting solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We also love hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes! It's going to include different bands including The Dirty Dead, The Paper Crowns and Phuncle Sam. We're also hosting other bands like Mama Danger, Cat and Crow, Astral Plainsmen, Sirius B., The Dirty Badgers, The Junk Drawer, The Free Wheelin' Mamas, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Moonlight Street Folk and more.
In addition to hosting live music, it's no secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans! The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They pull down the big projector screen to stream the show and clear the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance. Other live streams the brewery is definitely known for would include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will always encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

We offer all our music with no cover charge. UpCountry does not want to limit the live music to have a cover charge, which is the reason why our events are free to public.

UpCountry Brewing is well known for being family and kid friendly. We have a big outdoor patio space with games designed for kids and a cornhole set for friends and family to enjoy. Our patio and courtyard is also dog friendly so bring them with you.
At UpCountry Brewing, we believe that beer and the outdoors go in conjunction. UpCountry values the outdoor activities that Asheville has to offer, anything from floating down the river to tackling a strenuous mountain trail. Our outdoor space is a favorite hangout spot for Asheville residents and visitors alike.

UpCountry Brewing values being that brewery nested in West Asheville for locals to enjoy as well as a stop right off of Interstate 40 for tourists and visitors. It is found on Haywood Road in West Asheville and it's surrounded by thousands of neighbors and are incredibly proud to be their "neighborhood bar" for parties, gatherings or simply having beer with friends.
Think of UpCountry when you have exited Highway 26 and you're coming up Patton... but particularly think of UpCountry when you're craving a cold, craft beer. We're just right across The Odditorium, which a place in West Asheville that you have to never miss after or before you come to our place.
For tourists or just for those passing through, UpCountry offers a welcoming and personable experience. We have a friendly and certified staff so we all know everything about beer. Our beer-tenders are able to offer suggestions based on the types of beer you and your friends enjoy. After all, you did venture to the Beer City Capital of the United States!
UpCountry Brewing can offer beer tours by special request and you may check our website for this. Along with beer tastings and a tour of the new taproom, you may get a guided tour of the brew house and a crash course about how you may make and produce beer. In addition to the beer making process, you will determine what UpCountry's equipment does, and how each beer is brewed, from the recipe invention to kegging out the finished product in either cans or kegs.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design is the perfect thanks to the Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an exceptional job with designing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
If you don't know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.

UpCountry loves participating in anything that gets people to try the delicious beer that they produce.
