UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran, referred to as a craft beer industry veteran since the nineties. UpCountry Brewing offers a wide variety of beer styles, including saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts, and more. We have over 20 kinds of beers on tap and we're still planning to create new beers that everyone will certainly enjoy. UpCountry offers flights, goblets, pints, and even a twenty-two ounce pour in the taproom. Also, the brewery has beer to go ready for purchase. Beer to go would include a growler with your choice of beer or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with the taproom, the beer of UpCountry may be present in various towns and grocery stores, bottle shops and bars located in Asheville, together with the towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding areas.

We have our extensive beer list that is ideal for beer nerds everywhere. We always value creativity and daring recipes along with those go-to, easy drinking styles that everyone would enjoy. We're infusing a lot of our brews with various syrups and flavors that could offer an extra creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing one step further. We're all about experimenting and seeing what deliciousness we can create using the knowledge from each brewer!

In addition to offering delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines as well as a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. We have choices for everyone so you do not have to be a hardcore beer expert to be able to enjoy our alcohol. In addition to liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year based on the season.

Food

In addition to brewing and selling delicious beer, UpCountry offers a full food menu featuring appetizers, pizzas, burgers, salads, hot dogs, soups, and even meals for dogs. We even have dessert choices for the people who love sweets. Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even though you're on a diet, we are going to do our best to accommodate you. We have tons of choices for the entire family and we're kid and dog friendly that you can enjoy.

When you have worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the best place to talk with family or friends and satisfy your hunger. After you eat your dinner, lunch or snack, you can always try our corn hole and other activities scheduled at the brewery. Aside from live music, we have a yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.

Community

Each month, UpCountry chooses a different local nonprofit to represent their 'Miracle Pint Night' each Thursday. UpCountry unquestionably worked with various organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will host the pint night with a unique glass that can be changed every week. Consumers buy a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with 10 percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are only one way for the brewery to provide back.

Local Art And Music

UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the surrounding areas like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.

UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly together with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery can be showcasing one artist a month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for purchase and display. In addition to a month long campaign, each artists gets a designated Pint Night at the brewery as well as at Bad Craft. The artist of the month can show and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist can be available. UpCountry values the support of local art, music, and beer, and will continue to show their support for all of these avenues of Asheville. Music

UpCountry brewing is proud to offer live, local music every night. We like to host solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We even host those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. Other bands that we love to host include The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.

Aside from live music, it's not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery was known for live streaming music, but it's responsive to Phish plays. They pull down the big projector screen to stream the show and clear the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance. Other live streams the brewery is known for include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will invariably encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

All of our music may have no cover charge. UpCountry doesn't want to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

UpCountry Brewing is well known for being family and kid friendly. We have a big outdoor patio space with games meant for kids and a cornhole set for family and friends to enjoy. Our patio as well as courtyard are also dog friendly.

UpCountry's latest logo re-design have been the best and it's all thanks to Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did an excellent job in designing the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. There are tons of canning designs on the way so you have to stay tuned.

Georgia Bulldogs

If you do not have any idea yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is actually a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. You must keep an eye out because Cochran will certainly wear his jersey.
