UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran, who is known as a craft beer industry veteran since the mid 90s. John dealt with beer-related jobs in his more than 20 years in brewing and he is quite excited to get back to his root by giving a small, local brewery with a spotlight on fun times, wonderful beers and good friends. UpCountry Brewing is located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it's a brewery, taproom and also a music venue.
UpCountry Brewing can provide a range of beer styles, which will include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and many more. With about 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is considering making new beers for everyone to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can provide goblets, pints, flights and a 22-ounce pour in the taproom. We have got our extensive beer list that's great for beer nerds everywhere. We always value creativity and daring recipes together with those go-to, easy drinking styles that everyone would enjoy. We have got been infusing a lot of our brews with various syrups and flavors which will provide an extra creative kick. On Thursdays, UpCountry hosts the pint night with a unique glass that varies week by week. The brewery will show off one artist every month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and purchase. Apart from a month long campaign, every artist will get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can display and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist could be available. UpCountry will invariably value the support of local music, art and beer and they will continue to support all of these. UpCountry brewing is proud to give live, local music every night. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We even host those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. It will include different bands for example The Dirty Dead, The Paper Crowns and Phuncle Sam. We are also hosting other bands like Mama Danger, Cat and Crow, Astral Plainsmen, Sirius B., The Dirty Badgers, The Junk Drawer, The Free Wheelin' Mamas, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Moonlight Street Folk and more.
Along with hosting live music, it is no secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans! The brewery is known for live streaming music, but it's extra focus on when Phish plays. They usually pull down the large projector screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! The other known live streams that the brewery is concentrating on are Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will invariably encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been highly rated thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done a phenomenal job with creating the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are a lot of canning designs on the way so you need to stay tuned.
For those who don't know, UpCountry Brewing's owner, John Cochran, is a DAWG Alum! UpCountry has now become a go to spot in Asheville in watching the Georgia Bulldogs. You need to keep an eye out because Cochran will definitely wear his jersey.
