UpCountry Brewing was founded in 2016 by John Cochran, a craft beer industry veteran since the mid-1990's. John has a wide experience when it comes to beer-related jobs because he's been in this industry for more than 20 years so he is extremely excited to go back to his roots by offering a local brewery focusing on wonderful beer, fun times and good friends.
UpCountry Brewing is a brewery, taproom, and music venue located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We like to say that we brew our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it's the brewery located furthest west before leaving Beer City itself.
UpCountry Brewing will offer a lot of beer styles which can include sours, porters, saisons, IPAs, stouts and more. We have over 20 beers on the top and we are consistently thinking and creating new beers for the locals of Asheville. UpCountry Brewing also offers flights, pints, goblets and also a 22-ounce pour in the taproom.
We also have beers to go. This can include a growler with your choice of beer or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager or Bogey Free Session IPA and Hop Dread Red IPA. UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly together with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery showcases one artist each month to display their artwork in UpCountry's taproom for display as well as for purchase. Other bands that we love to host include The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Apart from hosting live music, it's already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery was known for live streaming music, but it's sensitive to Phish plays. They are going to pull down the big projector screen in order to stream the show and clear all the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance freely. Other live streams the brewery is definitely known for could include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will always encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an exceptional job with designing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. You should stay tuned because there are several more canning designs that are on the way.
For those who don't know, UpCountry Brewing's owner, John Cochran, is a DAWG Alum! UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
