UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran, known as a craft beer industry veteran since the nineties. John has a wide experience with regards to beer-related jobs because he's been in this industry for more than 20 years so he is quite excited to go back to his roots by providing a local brewery focusing on wonderful beer, fun times and good friends.
UpCountry Brewing is known as a brewery, taproom and also a music venue found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We may want to state that we're brewing our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it is the brewery found furthest west.
UpCountry Brewing can offer a range of beer styles, which will include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and much more. In addition to availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer may be found all over town in various grocery stores, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding areas.
Our extensive beer list is great for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity and daring recipes as well as those go-to, easy drinking styles that anyone can enjoy. We have got been infusing some of our brews with different syrups and flavors which will provide an extra creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing one step further. We are focusing on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we can produce using the knowledge from every brewer.
In addition to providing delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines as well as a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. You don't have to be a full on beer expert to enjoy alcohol at our place-we've got selections for everyone! In addition to liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year based on the season.
In addition to brewing and selling delicious beer, UpCountry offers a full food menu featuring appetizers, pizzas, burgers, salads, hot dogs, soups, and even meals for dogs. We even have dessert selections for the people who love sweets. Our wide menu variety can offer something new for everyone we're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Whatever your dietary restrictions, we are going to do our best to accommodate you! We have got plenty of selections for the entire family, as well as kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.

Each month, UpCountry selects a different local nonprofit to represent their 'Miracle Pint Night' each Thursday. UpCountry surely worked with different organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will host the pint night with a unique glass which will be changed every week. Consumers can buy a featured beer and they can also keep the glass, with 10 percent profit going to the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is surely important and the pint nights will be an excellent way to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing supports local art and music in Asheville and close, surrounding areas, including Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly together with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will be presenting one artist a month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for purchase and display. Aside from the month long campaign, the artist will also get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month is present and able to discuss their work, and a pint glass featuring the artist's work is available for purchase. UpCountry will invariably support the local music, art and beer in the area and will carry on doing this in the future. Community and business relationships are extremely important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, as well as the UpCountry staff, so the brewery anticipates continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is always proud to offer live, local music on a nightly basis. We are even hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. Other bands that we love to host include The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Aside from live music, it is not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They pull down the big projector screen to stream the show and clear the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance. Other live streams the brewery is noted for include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will invariably encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

All of our music may have no cover charge. UpCountry doesn't want to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

UpCountry Brewing is well noted for being family and kid friendly. We have got a large outdoor patio space with games which are made for children and also a cornhole set for the entire family to enjoy. Our patio as well as courtyard are also dog friendly.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design have been the best and it is all thanks to Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did an excellent job in designing the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. You need to stay tuned since there are several more canning designs which are on the way.
If you don't know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. You need to keep an eye out because Cochran will surely wear his jersey.
