UpCountry Brewing was first established in 2016 by craft beer industry veteran John Cochran. John has worked many beer-related jobs in his 20+ years in brewing (including co-founding Terrapin Beer Company), and he is excited to get back to his roots by providing a small, local brewery with a spotlight on fun times, good friends, and fantastic beers.
UpCountry Brewing is a taproom, brewery and a music venue that you may find at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We may wish to claim that we are brewing our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it is the brewery found furthest west.
UpCountry Brewing may offer lots of beer styles, that could include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and more. With about 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is thinking of making new beers for everybody to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing may offer goblets, pints, flights and a 22-ounce pour in the taproom. In addition to availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer may be found all over town in several supermarkets, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and neighboring areas.
We also have our extensive beer list that's the best for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativeness more than anything else as well as daring recipes that everybody will surely enjoy. We've lately been infusing some of our brews with several syrups and flavors for an extra creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions, as well as a pilot brew system to take brewing an extra step further. Every month, UpCountry can be picking a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry absolutely worked with various organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry hosts the pint night with a unique glass that varies week by week. Clients purchase a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with 10 percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is essential, and these pint nights are just one way for the brewery to provide back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing supports local art and music in Asheville and close, neighboring areas, such as Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist monthly with Bad Craft, an artist shop located in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will showcase one artist every month to show their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and buy. In addition to a month long campaign, each artists gets a delegated Pint Night at the brewery as well as at Bad Craft. The artist of the month can display and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist can be available. UpCountry will always support the local music, art and beer in the area and will continue to do this in the foreseeable future. Community and business relationships are incredibly essential to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, as well as the UpCountry staff, so the brewery anticipates continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is proud to offer live, local music every night. Apart from hosting live music, it is already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery has been known for live streaming music, but it is extra attention to when Phish plays. They will pull down the big projection screen in order to stream the show and clear all the chairs and tables in the music room so everybody can dance freely. Other live streams the brewery is recognized for include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will always encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design have been the best and it is all thanks to Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did a fantastic job in designing the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
For those who do not know, UpCountry Brewing's owner, John Cochran, is a DAWG Alum! UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
