The mission of UpCountry Brewing is to help create wonderful experiences while we share our passion to craft beer, local music and for acquiring outside. We're doing this by concentrating on the Carolina mountain region where we are operating. UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran, who is referred to as a craft beer industry veteran since the mid 90s. John actually worked with different beer-related jobs in more than twenty years in the brewing industry and he is excited to go back and create a small, local brewery concentrating on wonderful beers, fun times and good friends. UpCountry Brewing is located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it's referred to as a music venue, brewery and a tap room.
UpCountry Brewing offers a number of beer styles, including saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts, and more. With about 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is considering making new beers for everyone to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can offer flights, pints, goblets and also a 22-once pour in the taproom. Also, the brewery has beer to go ready for purchase. Beer to go would include a growler with your selection of beer or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Along with availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer may be found all over town in different grocery stores, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding locations.
We also have our extensive beer list that's the best for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity more than anything else in addition to daring recipes that everyone will absolutely enjoy. We're infusing some of our brews with different syrups and flavors that could offer an extra creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions, in addition to a pilot brew system to take brewing an extra step further. We're concentrating on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we can create using the knowledge from every brewer.
Along with offering delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines in addition to a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. You do not have to be a hard core beer expert in order to enjoy our alcohol since we've got choices for everyone. Along with liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year based on the season.
Apart from brewing and selling beer, UpCountry can offer a full food menu that features appetizers, burgers, pizzas, salads, soups, hotdogs and meals for dogs. We also have dessert choices for the sweet tooths out there, too! Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even when you are on a diet, we will do our best to accommodate you. We have tons of choices for the entire family and we are kid and dog friendly that you may enjoy.
When you've worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the best place to meet up with friends or family and satisfy your hunger. After eating your dinner, lunch or snack, you may try the corn hole or other activities that we've got scheduled at the brewery. Along with live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Every month, UpCountry can choose a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry has worked with organizations like Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry could be hosting the pint night with a unique glass which will change every week. Consumers buy a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with 10 percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are only one method for the brewery to provide back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the surrounding locations like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist monthly with Bad Craft, an artist shop situated in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery could be featuring one artist a month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for purchase and display. Apart from the month long campaign, the artist will also get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can show and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist could be available. UpCountry will invariably value the support of local music, art and beer and they will continue to support all of these. Community and business relationships are really important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, in addition to the UpCountry staff, so the brewery anticipates continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is proud to provide live, local music every night. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We like to host solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We're even hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. It'll include different bands like The Paper Crowns, The Dirty Dead and Phuncle Sam. We're also hosting other bands like Mama Danger, Cat and Crow, Astral Plainsmen, Sirius B., The Dirty Badgers, The Junk Drawer, The Free Wheelin' Mamas, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Moonlight Street Folk and more.
Apart from hosting live music, it's already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery was noted for live streaming music, but it's sensitive to Phish plays. They pull down the large projector screen to stream the show and clear the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance. Other live streams the brewery is really noted for would include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

All of our music could have no cover charge. UpCountry doesn't want to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

UpCountry Brewing is noted for being family and kid friendly. We have a large outdoor patio space with games intended for children and a cornhole set for friends and family to enjoy. Our patio and courtyard are dog friendly, so bring the pup too!

UpCountry values the outdoor activities that Asheville has to offer, everything from floating down the river to tackling a strenuous mountain trail. You need to think of UpCountry once you have exited Highway 26 and you coming up to Patton, but you need to think of UpCountry when you are looking for the best beer. We're right across from our good friends at The Odditorium, a West Asheville staple that you need to totally have a look at before or after you're at our place.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been top notch thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did a fantastic job in creating the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
If you do not know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has now become a go to spot in Asheville in watching the Georgia Bulldogs. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
