The mission of UpCountry Brewing is to help create great experiences while we share our passion to craft beer, local music and for obtaining outside. We do this by concentrating on the Carolina mountain region where we're presently located. UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran, who is referred to as a craft beer industry veteran since the mid 90s. John worked with beer-related jobs in his more than Twenty years in brewing and he is extremely excited to acquire back to his root by supplying a small, local brewery with a spotlight on fun times, great beers and good friends. UpCountry Brewing can be located in 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and this is a taproom, brewery and a music venue.
UpCountry Brewing offers a number of beer styles, including saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts, and more. With twenty of its own beers on tap, the brew house is continuously thinking about and making new beers for Asheville to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can provide flights, pints, goblets and also a 22-once pour in the taproom. Also, the brewery has beer to go ready for purchase. Beer to go would include a growler with your selection of beer or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Along with availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer can be found all over town in different grocery stores, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding locations.
We have got our extensive beer list that's perfect for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity more than anything else in addition to daring recipes that everyone will undoubtedly enjoy. We are infusing some of our brews with different syrups and flavors that may offer an extra creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing a step further. We're all about experimenting and seeing what deliciousness we can create using the knowledge from each brewer!
Aside from this, we offer delicious beer and UpCountry also offers red and white wines and a full liquor bar of gin, vodka, whiskey, tequila and others. You do not have to be a full on beer lover to enjoy alcohol at our place-we've got choices for everyone! Along with liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year according to the season.
Along with brewing and selling delicious beer, UpCountry offers a full food menu featuring appetizers, pizzas, burgers, salads, hot dogs, soups, and even meals for dogs. If you love sweets, we've got different dessert options available for you. Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Whatever your dietary restrictions, we will do our best to accommodate you! We have got plenty of choices for the entire family, in addition to kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.
When you have worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to interact with family or friends and satisfy your hunger. After consuming your lunch, dinner, or snack, enjoy corn hole or one of the a lot of activities we have scheduled at the brewery. Along with live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Every month, UpCountry can choose a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry unquestionably worked with different organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry can be hosting the pint night with a unique glass that can change every week. Customers buy a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with ten percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are just one method for the brewery to provide back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the surrounding locations like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly together with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will showcase one artist each month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and purchase. Aside from a month long campaign, every artist will get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month is present and able to discuss their work, and a pint glass featuring the artist's work is available for purchase. UpCountry will always value the support of local music, art and beer and they will continue to support all of these. Community and business relationships are really important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, in addition to the UpCountry staff, so the brewery looks forward to continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is always proud to offer live, local music on a nightly basis. If you'll take your friends and family members to tourist spots for example Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, you may always bring them to UpCountry for a night of Bluegrass, Music bingo, Open Mic, and live local music. We love hosting solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We even host those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. We have got other bands that we love to host like The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Along with hosting live music, it's no secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans! The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They generally pull down the large projector screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! The other known live streams that the brewery is concentrating on are Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry encourages Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

UpCountry Brewing is well recognized for being family and kid friendly. We have got a massive outdoor patio space with games for the kiddos in addition to a cornhole set for family and friends to enjoy. Our patio and courtyard are dog friendly, so bring the pup too!
At UpCountry Brewing, we always believe that beer and outdoors are related with each other. UpCountry values the outdoor activities that Asheville has to offer, everything from floating down the river to tackling a strenuous mountain trail. UpCountry Brewing values being that brewery nested in West Asheville for locals to enjoy in addition to a stop right off of Interstate 40 for tourists and visitors. Located on Haywood Road in West Asheville, we're surrounded by thousands of neighbors and are proud to be their 'neighborhood bar' for parties, big gatherings, or simply having a beer with friends.
Think of UpCountry when you have exited Highway 26 and you're coming up Patton... but specially think of UpCountry when you're craving a cold, craft beer. We are just right across The Odditorium, which is a West Asheville staple that you may visit before or after you come to our place.
For those who are just passing through, UpCountry can offer you a welcoming and personable experience. We have got a friendly and certified staff so we all know everything about beer. Our beer-tenders are able to offer suggestions based on the types of beer you and your friends enjoy. It's referred to as the Beer City Capital of the United States.
UpCountry Brewing offers beer tours by special request. Just check our website for information! Along with beer tastings and a tour of the new taproom, you may get a guided tour of the brew house and a crash course about how you may make and produce beer. Aside from the beer making process, you may know the equipment of UpCountry Brewing and how every beer is brewed together with the recipe invention to kegging out the finished product.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been high quality thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done a phenomenal job with creating the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are tons of canning designs on the way so you should stay tuned.
If you don't know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has now become a go to spot in Asheville in watching the Georgia Bulldogs. You have to keep an eye out because Cochran will undoubtedly wear his jersey.
