The mission of UpCountry Brewing is to help develop great experiences while we are expressing our passion to local music, crafting beer and more. UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran, who is referred to as craft beer industry veteran. John worked with beer-related jobs in his more than 20 years in brewing and he is quite fired up to obtain back to his root by giving a small, local brewery with a spotlight on fun times, great beers and best friends. UpCountry Brewing is found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it's referred to as a music venue, brewery and a tap room.
UpCountry Brewing offers a number of beer styles, including saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts, and more. With about 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is thinking about making new beers for everyone to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can provide flights, pints, goblets and also a 22-once pour in the taproom. In addition, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go includes a growler with your selection of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. UpCountry has worked with organizations such as Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will be hosting the pint night with a unique glass that can change every week. Customers buy a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with ten percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is absolutely important and the pint nights will be an excellent method to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is actually supporting local art and music in Asheville and all the surrounding locations such as Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly together with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery showcases one artist each month to display their artwork in UpCountry's taproom for display in addition to for purchase. Aside from a month long campaign, every artist will get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can present and also discuss their work along a pint glass featuring the work of the artist. UpCountry will always support the local music, art and beer in the area and will carry on doing this in the foreseeable future. We even host those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. We're also hosting other bands like Mama Danger, Cat and Crow, Astral Plainsmen, Sirius B., The Dirty Badgers, The Junk Drawer, The Free Wheelin' Mamas, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Moonlight Street Folk and more.
Along with hosting live music, it is no secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans! The brewery was recognized for live streaming music, but it's responsive to Phish plays. They typically pull down the large projector screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! The other known live streams that the brewery is concentrating on are Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will always encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

We offer all of our music with NO cover charge. UpCountry doesn't want to limit the live music to have a cover charge, which is the reason why our events are free to public.

UpCountry Brewing is well recognized for being family and kid friendly. We've got a huge outdoor patio space with games for the kiddos in addition to a cornhole set for family and friends to enjoy. Our patio in addition to courtyard are also dog friendly.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been high quality thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done a phenomenal job with creating the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are tons of canning designs on the way so you should stay tuned.
For those who don't know, UpCountry Brewing's owner, John Cochran, is a DAWG Alum! UpCountry has now become a go to spot in Asheville in watching the Georgia Bulldogs. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
