UpCountry Brewing started by John Cochran in 2016 and he is popularly known as one of the best in the craft beer industry since 1990's. John actually worked alongside beer-related jobs in his twenty years in brewing and he is very excited to return to his roots by offering a small, local brewery centering on fun times, wonderful beers and good friends. UpCountry Brewing is now located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it's a tap room, music venue and a brewery.
UpCountry Brewing can offer a range of beer styles, which would include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and much more. We have over 20 types of beers on tap and we are still seeking to create new beers that everyone will certainly enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can offer flights, pints, goblets and also a 22-once pour in the taproom. In addition, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go features a growler with your preference of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with the taproom, the beer of UpCountry may be present in several towns and grocery stores, bottle shops and bars positioned in Asheville, along with the towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding places.
We've got our extensive beer list that's the best for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity above all else along with daring recipes that everyone will certainly enjoy. We've recently been infusing a lot of our brews with several syrups and flavors for an extra creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing a step further. We always concentrate on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we could make with the use of the knowledge from the brewers.
Together with offering delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines along with a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. You do not have to be a hardcore beer expert to enjoy alcohol at our place-we've got options for everyone! Together with liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year based on the season.
Apart from selling and brewing beer, UpCountry could also give you a full food menu that might include appetizers, pizzas, salads, soups, hotdogs, burgers and also meals for dogs. We even have dessert options for the folks who love sweets. Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Whatever your dietary restrictions, we'll do our best to accommodate you! We have plenty of options for the entire family, along with kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.
When you have worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to interact with family or friends and satisfy your hunger. After eating your dinner, lunch or snack, you can try the corn hole or other activities that we have got scheduled at the brewery. Together with live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry chooses a different local nonprofit to represent their 'Miracle Pint Night' each Thursday. UpCountry undoubtedly worked with different organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry hosts the pint night with a unique glass that varies week by week. Consumers can buy a featured beer and they could also keep the glass, with 10 percent profit going to the featured nonprofit. UpCountry brewing is proud to give live, local music every night. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We like to host solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We also love hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes! These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. We're also hosting other bands like Mama Danger, Cat and Crow, Astral Plainsmen, Sirius B., The Dirty Badgers, The Junk Drawer, The Free Wheelin' Mamas, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Moonlight Street Folk and more.
Apart from live music, it's not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery was noted for live streaming music, but it's sensitive to Phish plays. They pull down the huge projector screen to stream the show and clear the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance. Other live streams the brewery is definitely noted for could include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

We offer all of our music with NO cover charge. UpCountry does not want to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

UpCountry Brewing is noted for being family and kid friendly. We have a huge outdoor patio space with games for the kiddos along with a cornhole set for family and friends to enjoy. Our patio along with courtyard are also dog friendly.

You are undoubtedly thinking of UpCountry when you exited Highway 26 and you're coming up Patton, but you have to think of it when you need a cold, craft beer. For tourists or just for those passing through, UpCountry offers a welcoming and personable experience. We have a friendly and certified staff so we know everything about beer. Our beer-tenders are able to offer suggestions based on the types of beer you and your friends enjoy. It's known as the Beer City Capital of the United States.

UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been first class thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an outstanding job with developing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are a lot of canning designs on the way so you must stay tuned.
For those who do not know, UpCountry Brewing's owner, John Cochran, is a DAWG Alum! UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
