The primary mission of UpCountry Brewing is to help create wonderful experiences while expressing our passion in crafting beer, local music and more. We have an intimate indoor setting, big backyard and also a massive space for live local music so UpCountry Brewing can provide a variety of beer styles while also providing a full brewpub food menu for locals and visitors.
UpCountry Brewing was actually set up in 2016 by craft beer industry veteran John Cochran. John actually dealt with different beer-related jobs in more than twenty years in the brewing industry and he is thrilled to go back and create a small, local brewery concentrating on wonderful beers, fun times and buddies. UpCountry Brewing is located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it's referred to as a music venue, brewery and a tap room.
UpCountry Brewing can provide a range of beer styles, which would include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and much more. We have over 20 types of beers on tap and we are still looking to create new beers that everyone will undoubtedly enjoy. UpCountry Brewing will offer goblets, pints, flights and a 22-ounce pour in the taproom. Also, the brewery has beer to go ready for purchase. Beer to go would include a growler with your selection of beer or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Along with the taproom, the beer of UpCountry may be located in different towns and grocery stores, bottle shops and bars situated in Asheville, together with the towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding locations.
We have our extensive beer list that's perfect for beer nerds everywhere. We always value creativity and daring recipes together with those go-to, easy drinking styles that everyone would enjoy. We have been infusing some of our brews with various syrups and flavors that can provide an extra creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing one step further. We are all about experimenting and seeing what deliciousness we can create using the knowledge from each brewer!
Apart from this, we provide delicious beer and UpCountry also offers red and white wines and a full liquor bar of gin, vodka, whiskey, tequila and others. We have choices for everyone so you do not need to be a hard core beer expert to be able to enjoy our alcohol. Apart from liquor, UpCountry can provide signature cocktails which could rotate throughout the year based on the season.
Along with brewing and selling delicious beer, UpCountry offers a full food menu featuring appetizers, pizzas, burgers, salads, hot dogs, soups, and even meals for dogs. We've got dessert choices for the sweet tooths out there, too! Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even when you're actually on a diet, we are going to try everything to accommodate you. We have plenty of choices for the whole family, in addition to kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.
When you have worked up an appetite by hiking at the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the perfect place to speak to your friends and satisfy your hunger. After devouring your lunch, dinner, or snack, enjoy corn hole or one of the lots of activities we've got scheduled at the brewery. Along with live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry prefers a different local nonprofit to represent their 'Miracle Pint Night' each Thursday. UpCountry definitely worked with various organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will host the pint night with a unique glass that can be changed every week. Consumers buy a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with ten percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is undoubtedly important and the pint nights could be a great way to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the surrounding locations like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist monthly with Bad Craft, an artist shop situated in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery could be presenting one artist a month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for purchase and display. Along with a month long campaign, each artists gets a designated Pint Night at the brewery in addition to at Bad Craft. The artist of the month can present and also discuss their work along a pint glass featuring the work of the artist. UpCountry will always value the support of local music, art and beer and they're going to continue to support all of these. Community and business relationships are incredibly important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, in addition to the UpCountry staff, so the brewery looks forward to continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is proud to give live, local music every night. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We love hosting solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We even host those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. It will include different bands like The Dirty Dead, The Paper Crowns and Phuncle Sam. We've got other bands that we love to host like The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Apart from live music, it's not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is known for live streaming music, but it's extra focus on when Phish plays. They are going to pull down the large projector screen to be able to stream the show and clear all the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance freely. The other known live streams that the brewery is concentrating on are Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry encourages Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

UpCountry Brewing is known for being family and kid friendly. We have a massive outdoor patio space with games for the kiddos in addition to a cornhole set for family and friends to enjoy. Our patio and courtyard is also dog friendly so bring them with you.
At UpCountry Brewing, we always think that beer and outdoors are related with each other. UpCountry values the outdoor activities that Asheville has to offer, anything from floating down the river to tackling a strenuous mountain trail. Our outdoor space is a favorite for Asheville residents and visitors.

UpCountry Brewing offers beer tours by special request. Just check our website for info! Along with beer tastings and a tour of the new taproom, you can get a guided tour of the brew house and a crash course on how you can make and produce beer. Along with the beer making process, you'll determine what UpCountry's equipment does, and how each beer is brewed, from the recipe invention to kegging out the finished product in either cans or kegs.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been highly rated thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did a great job in creating the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. There are a lot of canning designs on the way so you need to stay tuned.
If you do not know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has now become a go to spot in Asheville in watching the Georgia Bulldogs. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
