UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran, who is known as a craft beer industry veteran since the mid 90s. John has already dealt with lots of beer-related jobs for more than twenty years in his brewing experience and he is excited to go back to his roots and make a small, local brewery that concentrates on wonderful beers, fun times and good friends. UpCountry Brewing may be seen in 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and this is a taproom, brewery and a music venue.
UpCountry Brewing offers numerous types of beer styles, including saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts, and more. With twenty of its own beers on tap, the brew house is continually thinking up and creating new beers for Asheville to enjoy. UpCountry offers flights, goblets, pints, and even a twenty-two ounce pour in the taproom. In addition, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go includes a growler with your selection of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Along with availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer may be found all over town in different grocery stores, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding locations.
We also have our extensive beer list that is the best for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity and daring recipes in addition to those go-to, easy drinking styles that anyone can enjoy. We're infusing a lot of our brews with different syrups and flavors that could offer an extra creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions, in addition to a pilot brew system to take brewing an extra step further. Apart from live music, we also offer yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Every month, UpCountry can be picking a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry already worked different organizations like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry hosts the pint night with a unique glass that varies week by week. Consumers can buy a featured beer and they can also keep the glass, with 10 percent profit going to the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is surely important and the pint nights can be a fantastic method to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing supports local art and music in Asheville and close, surrounding locations, like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will display one artist every month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and purchase. Apart from a month long campaign, every artist will get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month is there and able to discuss their work, and a pint glass featuring the artist's work is available for purchase. UpCountry will invariably value the support of local music, art and beer and they will continue to support all of these. Community and business relationships are really important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, in addition to the UpCountry staff, so the brewery looks forward to continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is always proud to offer live, local music on a nightly basis. Along with hosting live music, it is no secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans! The brewery is known for live streaming music, but it is extra focus on when Phish plays. They typically pull down the large projector screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! Other live streams the brewery is known for include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

UpCountry's latest logo re-design have been the best and it is all thanks to Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an exceptional job with creating the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are a lot of canning designs on the way so you should stay tuned.
For those who do not know, UpCountry Brewing's owner, John Cochran, is a DAWG Alum! UpCountry has now become a go to spot in Asheville in watching the Georgia Bulldogs. You need to keep an eye out because Cochran will surely wear his jersey.
