UpCountry Brewing was first set up in 2016 by craft beer industry veteran John Cochran. John already has lots of beer-related jobs within his 20 years in brewing and he is quite excited to acquire back to his roots by giving a small, local brewery focusing on good friends, wonderful beers and fun times.
UpCountry Brewing is known as a brewery, taproom and also a music venue located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We like to claim that we brew our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it is the brewery located furthest west prior to leaving Beer City itself.
UpCountry Brewing can provide lots of beer styles, that will include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and more. With about 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is thinking of making new beers for everyone to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can provide goblets, pints, flights and a 22-ounce pour in the taproom. Together with the taproom, the beer of UpCountry may be located in various towns and grocery stores, bottle shops and bars situated in Asheville, together with the towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding areas.
We also have our extensive beer list that is the best for beer nerds everywhere. We always value creativity and daring recipes along with those go-to, easy drinking styles that everyone would enjoy. We are infusing some of our brews with various syrups and flavors that will offer an extra creative kick. The brewery also contains a Randall for infusions and also a pilot brew system to take the brewing one step further. We are focusing on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we can produce using the knowledge from every brewer.
Apart from this, we provide delicious beer and UpCountry also offers red and white wines and a full liquor bar of gin, vodka, whiskey, tequila and others. You don't have to be a hardcore beer expert to be able to enjoy our alcohol since we have got selections for everyone. In addition to liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year based on the season.
Apart from brewing and selling beer, UpCountry can provide a full food menu that features appetizers, burgers, pizzas, salads, soups, hotdogs and meals for dogs. We also have dessert selections for the sweet tooths out there, too! Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even when you're on a diet, we are going to do our best to accommodate you. We have plenty of selections for the entire family, as well as kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.

Every month, UpCountry could be choosing a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry has worked with organizations including Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry hosts the pint night with a unique glass that varies week by week. Consumers will unquestionably buy a featured beer and they could keep the glass. The 10 percent of the sales could be going to the nonprofit organizations. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are only one method for the brewery to provide back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the surrounding areas like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will showcase one artist each month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and purchase. Apart from a month long campaign, every artist will get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month is there and able to discuss their work, and a pint glass featuring the artist's work is available for purchase. UpCountry will invariably support the local music, art and beer in the area and will continue to do this in the future. Community and business relationships are extremely important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, as well as the UpCountry staff, so the brewery looks forward to continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is proud to offer live, local music almost every night. We are even hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. It'll include different bands including The Dirty Dead, The Paper Crowns and Phuncle Sam. We also have other bands that we love to host like The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
In addition to hosting live music, it's no secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans! The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They pull down the big projector screen to stream the show and clear the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance. Other live streams the brewery is known for include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

We offer all our music with no cover charge. UpCountry doesn't want to limit the live music to have a cover charge, which is the reason why our events are free to public.

UpCountry's latest logo re-design have been the best and it is all thanks to Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an exceptional job with designing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are plenty of canning designs on the way so you should stay tuned.
For those who do not know, UpCountry Brewing's owner, John Cochran, is a DAWG Alum! UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Cochran will unquestionably wear his jersey so you must keep an eye out.
