With a large backyard, intimate indoor seating, and a generous space for live local music, UpCountry Brewing serves a number of craft beer styles while supplying a full brewpub food menu for locals and visitors alike.
UpCountry Brewing was first set up in 2016 by craft beer industry veteran John Cochran. John already has plenty of beer-related jobs within his 20 years in brewing and he is extremely excited to acquire back to his roots by supplying a small, local brewery focusing on good friends, wonderful beers and fun times.
UpCountry Brewing is a taproom, brewery and a music venue that you can find at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We like to claim that we brew our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it's the brewery located furthest west prior to leaving Beer City itself.
UpCountry Brewing will offer a range of beer styles, which will include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and many more. With twenty of its own beers on tap, the brew house is consistently thinking about and making new beers for Asheville to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing will offer flights, pints, goblets and also a 22-once pour in the taproom. Furthermore, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go includes a growler with your choice of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with the taproom, the beer of UpCountry may be found in various towns and grocery stores, bottle shops and bars located in Asheville, along with the towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding areas.
We have our extensive beer list that is ideal for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity and daring recipes as well as those go-to, easy drinking styles that anyone can enjoy. We have been infusing some of our brews with various syrups and flavors that could offer an extra creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing a step further. We always concentrate on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we might make with the use of the knowledge from the brewers.
In addition to offering delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines as well as a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. You don't need to be a full on beer expert to be able to enjoy our alcohol since we have options for everyone. Apart from liquor, UpCountry can also offer signature cocktails that will rotate throughout the year based on the season.
In addition to brewing and selling delicious beer, UpCountry offers a full food menu featuring appetizers, pizzas, burgers, salads, hot dogs, soups, and even meals for dogs. We also have dessert options for the sweet tooths out there, too! Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Whatever your dietary restrictions, we'll do our best to accommodate you! We have plenty of options for the whole family, as well as kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.
Once you have worked up an appetite by hiking at the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to speak to your friends and satisfy your hunger. After eating your dinner, lunch or snack, you can try the corn hole or other activities that we have scheduled at the brewery. In addition to live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Every month, UpCountry could be selecting a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry undoubtedly worked with various organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry hosts the pint night with a unique glass that varies week by week. Consumers buy a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with ten percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are only one way for the brewery to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is really supporting local art and music in Asheville and all the surrounding areas like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery showcases one artist every month to display their artwork in UpCountry's taproom for display as well as for purchase. In addition to a month long campaign, each artists gets a designated Pint Night at the brewery as well as at Bad Craft. The artist of the month is present and able to discuss their work, and a pint glass featuring the artist's work is available for purchase. UpCountry values the support of local art, music, and beer, and will continue to demonstrate their support for all of these avenues of Asheville. Community and business relationships are extremely important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, as well as the UpCountry staff, so the brewery anticipates continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is proud to offer live, local music every night. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We like to host solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We even host those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. It is going to include different bands like The Dirty Dead, The Paper Crowns and Phuncle Sam. Other bands that we love to host include The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
In addition to hosting live music, it's no secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans! The brewery has been known for live streaming music, but it's extra attention to when Phish plays. They will pull down the big projector screen to be able to stream the show and clear all the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance freely. Other live streams the brewery is noted for include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry encourages Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

All of our music will have no cover charge. UpCountry doesn't want to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

UpCountry Brewing is well noted for being family and kid friendly. We have a large outdoor patio space with games which are made for children and also a cornhole set for the whole family to enjoy. Our patio and courtyard is also dog friendly so bring them with you.

UpCountry Brewing always value the outdoor activities that Asheville will offer from floating down the river to trying the mountain trail. Located on Haywood Road in West Asheville, we're surrounded by thousands of neighbors and are proud to be their 'neighborhood bar' for parties, large gatherings, or simply having a beer with friends.
You're undoubtedly thinking about UpCountry when you exited Highway 26 and you are coming up Patton, but you must think of it when you need a cold, craft beer. We're just right across The Odditorium, which a location in West Asheville that you need to never miss after or before you come to our place.
For tourists or just for those passing through, UpCountry offers a welcoming and personable experience. Our staff is friendly and Cicerone certified, meaning we're knowledgeable in all things beer! We have our beer-tenders that will offer suggestions based on the type of beer that you would like. It's known as the Beer City Capital of the United States.
UpCountry Brewing will offer beer tours by special request and you can check our website for this. In addition to beer tastings and a tour of the new taproom, you will receive a guided tour of the brew house and as well as a 'Beer 101' crash course in how you can make and produce beer. Apart from the beer making process, you can understand the equipment of UpCountry Brewing and how every beer is brewed along with the recipe invention to kegging out the finished product.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design have been the best and it's all thanks to Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an outstanding job with designing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
For those who do not know, UpCountry Brewing's owner, John Cochran, is a DAWG Alum! UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.

UpCountry loves taking part in anything that gets people to try the delicious beer that they create.
UpCountry Brewing actually focuses on local support through music, art and nonprofit. Bottom line is that UpCountry's adoration for craft beer coupled with a memorable experience with friends, family, and the outdoors makes it a wonderful place to grab a beer with friends.
