The mission of UpCountry Brewing is to help create great experiences and share our passion in crafting beer, local music and more. We do this by focusing on the Carolina mountain region where we are currently residing.

With a large backyard, intimate setting indoors and also a big space for live local music, UpCountry Brewing can offer a variety of beer styles while supplying a brewpub food menu for the locals and visitors.
UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran, known as a craft beer industry veteran since the 1990s. John has worked lots of beer-related jobs in his 20+ years in brewing (including co-founding Terrapin Beer Company), and he is excited to obtain back to his roots by providing a small, local brewery with a spotlight on fun times, good friends, and great beers.
UpCountry Brewing is a brewery, taproom, and music venue found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We may want to state that we are brewing our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it is the brewery found furthest west.
UpCountry Brewing offers a number of beer styles, including saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts, and more. We have over 20 types of beers on tap and we are still looking to create new beers that everyone will undoubtedly enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can offer goblets, pints, flights and a 22-ounce pour in the taproom. Furthermore, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go includes a growler with your choice of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. In addition to availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer can be found all over town in various grocery stores, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding areas.
We have our extensive beer list that's great for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity above all else as well as daring recipes that everyone will undoubtedly enjoy. We've recently been infusing some of our brews with various syrups and flavors for an additional creative kick. The brewery also includes a Randall for infusions and also a pilot brew system to take the brewing a step further. We always focus on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we could make with the usage of the knowledge from the brewers.
In addition to providing delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines as well as a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. You do not have to be a hard core beer lover to enjoy alcohol at our place-we've got selections for everyone! In addition to liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year according to the season.
Apart from selling and brewing beer, UpCountry may also give you a full food menu that will include appetizers, pizzas, salads, soups, hot dogs, burgers and also meals for dogs. We have got dessert selections for the sweet tooths out there, too! Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even if you're actually on a diet, we're going to do everything to accommodate you. We have plenty of selections for the entire family and we are kid and dog friendly that you may enjoy.
When you've worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to meet up with friends or family and satisfy your hunger. After devouring your lunch, dinner, or snack, enjoy corn hole or one of the lots of activities we have scheduled at the brewery. In addition to live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Every month, UpCountry could be choosing a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry absolutely worked with different organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry could be hosting the pint night with a unique glass which will change every week. Customers can buy a featured beer and they could also keep the glass, with 10 percent profit going to the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is undoubtedly important and the pint nights could be an excellent way to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the surrounding areas like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly along with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery could be featuring one artist a month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for purchase and display. Apart from the month long campaign, the artist can also get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can show and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist could be available. UpCountry will always support the local music, art and beer in the area and will continue to do this in the foreseeable future. Community and business relationships are important for John Cochran, the owner of UpCountry, along with the support of the staff so the brewery will always look ahead to continue the Pint Nights.
UpCountry brewing is always proud to offer live, local music on a nightly basis. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We like to host solo musicians for example Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We also love hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes! It is going to include various bands for example The Paper Crowns, The Dirty Dead and Phuncle Sam. We have got other bands that we love to host like The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Apart from hosting live music, it is already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They pull down the big projector screen to stream the show and clear the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance. Other live streams the brewery is actually recognized for would include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry encourages Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

We offer all of our music with NO cover charge. UpCountry doesn't want to limit the live music to have a cover charge, which is the reason why our events are free to public.

UpCountry Brewing values being family and kid friendly. We have a huge outdoor patio space with games for the kiddos as well as a cornhole set for family and friends to enjoy. Our patio as well as courtyard are also dog friendly.
At UpCountry Brewing, we believe that beer and the outdoors go together. UpCountry values the outdoor activities that Asheville has to offer, anything from floating down the river to tackling a strenuous mountain trail. Our outdoor space is a favorite hangout spot for Asheville residents and visitors alike.

UpCountry Brewing values being that brewery nested in West Asheville for locals to enjoy as well as a stop right off of Interstate 40 for tourists and visitors. Found on Haywood Road in West Asheville, we're surrounded by thousands of neighbors and are proud to be their 'neighborhood bar' for parties, large gatherings, or simply having a beer with friends.
You have to think of UpCountry when you have exited Highway 26 and you coming up to Patton, but you must think of UpCountry when you're looking for the best beer. We're right across from our good friends at The Odditorium, a West Asheville staple that you should totally have a look at before or after you're at our place.
For tourists or just for those passing through, UpCountry offers a welcoming and personable experience. We have friendly and knowledgeable staff so we know all about beer. Our beer-tenders are able to offer suggestions based on the types of beer you and your friends enjoy. It is known as the Beer City Capital of the United States.
UpCountry Brewing will offer beer tours by special request and you may check our website for this. In addition to beer tastings and a tour of the new taproom, you will obtain a guided tour of the brew house and as well as a 'Beer 101' crash course in how you can make and produce beer. Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design is the ideal thanks to the Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done a phenomenal job with designing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are plenty of canning designs on the way so you should stay tuned.
If you don't know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
