UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran and he is known in the craft beer industry since nineties. John actually worked alongside beer-related jobs in his 20 years in brewing and he is very thrilled to return to his roots by offering a small, local brewery centering on fun times, great beers and buddies. UpCountry Brewing might be located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it's a brewery, taproom and also a music venue.
UpCountry Brewing offers numerous types of beer styles, including saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts, and more. With about 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is thinking of making new beers for everyone to enjoy. UpCountry offers flights, goblets, pints, and even a twenty-two ounce pour in the taproom. Additionally, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go includes a growler with your preference of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer might be found all over town in several grocery stores, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding places.

We are centering on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we can create using the knowledge from every brewer.
Aside from this, we provide delicious beer and UpCountry also offers red and white wines and a full liquor bar of gin, vodka, whiskey, tequila and others. You do not have to be a full-on beer geek in order to enjoy our alcohol since we've got selections for everyone. Together with liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate through the year according to the season.
Aside from selling and brewing beer, UpCountry can also give you a full food menu that will include appetizers, pizzas, salads, soups, hot-dogs, burgers and also meals for dogs. We have got dessert selections for the sweet tooths out there, too! Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even when you are on a diet, we are going to do our best to accommodate you. We have plenty of selections for the entire family, along with kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.
Once you have worked up an appetite by hiking at the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to meet with your friends and satisfy your hunger. After eating your dinner, lunch or snack, you can try the corn hole or other activities that we've got scheduled at the brewery. Aside from live music, we've got a yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry chooses a different local nonprofit to represent their 'Miracle Pint Night' each Thursday. UpCountry definitely worked with various organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry hosts the pint night with a unique glass that varies week by week. Customers buy a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with ten percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is really important and these pint nights can be a way for the brewery to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the surrounding places like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist monthly with Bad Craft, an artist shop located in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will showcase one artist each month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and purchase. Aside from the month long campaign, the artist can also get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can present and also discuss their work along a pint glass featuring the work of the artist. UpCountry will always support the local music, art and beer in the area and will continue doing this in the future. Community and business relationships are important for John Cochran, the owner of UpCountry, together with the support of the staff so the brewery will always anticipate continue the Pint Nights.
UpCountry brewing is proud to give live, local music every night. If you are going to take your friends and family members to tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, you can always bring them to UpCountry for a night of Bluegrass, Music bingo, Open Mic, and live local music. We are always proud to host solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We are even hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. We have got other bands that we love to host like The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Aside from hosting live music, it's already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They typically pull down the huge projector screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! Other live streams the brewery is noted for include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

All of our music could have no cover charge. UpCountry does not want to limit the live music to have a cover charge, which is the reason why our events are free to public.

Situated on Haywood Road in West Asheville, we are surrounded by thousands of neighbors and are proud to be their 'neighborhood bar' for parties, huge gatherings, or simply having a beer with friends.
Think of UpCountry when you've exited Highway 26 and you're coming up Patton... but specifically think of UpCountry when you're craving a cold, craft beer. We're right across from our good friends at The Odditorium, a West Asheville staple that you need to totally take a look at before or after you're at our place.
For the folks who are only passing through, UpCountry can offer a welcoming and personable experience. We have friendly and knowledgeable staff so we understand all about beer. Our beer-tenders are able to offer suggestions based on the kinds of beer you and your friends enjoy. After all, you did venture to the Beer City Capital of the United States!
UpCountry Brewing offers beer tours by special request. Just check our website for info! Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design have been the best and it's all thanks to Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did an incredible job in developing the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. There are plenty of canning designs on the way so you need to stay tuned.
If you do not know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
