UpCountry Brewing started by John Cochran in 2016 and he is popularly referred to as among the best in the craft beer industry since nineteen nineties. John actually dealt with beer-related jobs in his 20 years in brewing and he is very excited to return to his roots by providing a small, local brewery centering on fun times, great beers and good friends. UpCountry Brewing could be found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it's a brewery, taproom and also a music venue.
UpCountry Brewing may offer a lot of beer styles, that might include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and more. With twenty of its own beers on tap, the brew house is constantly thinking up and making new beers for Asheville to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can provide flights, pints, goblets and also a 22-once pour in the taproom. Additionally, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! We also have our extensive beer list that is the best for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity above all else along with daring recipes that everyone will unquestionably enjoy. We've recently been infusing a lot of our brews with different syrups and flavors for an additional creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions, along with a pilot brew system to take brewing an additional step further. We're all about experimenting and seeing what deliciousness we can produce using the knowledge from each brewer!
Together with providing delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines along with a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. You do not have to be a full on beer geek to be able to enjoy our alcohol since we have selections for everyone. Apart from liquor, UpCountry can provide signature cocktails that may rotate throughout the year based on the season.
Together with brewing and selling delicious beer, UpCountry offers a full food menu featuring appetizers, pizzas, burgers, salads, hot dogs, soups, and even meals for dogs. We even have dessert selections for the folks who love sweets. Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Whatever your dietary restrictions, we'll do our best to accommodate you! We've got plenty of selections for the entire family, along with kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.
When you have worked up an appetite by hiking at the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to speak to your friends and satisfy your hunger. After eating your dinner, lunch or snack, you can try the corn hole or other activities that we have scheduled at the brewery. Apart from live music, we have a yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry can select a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry has worked with organizations including Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry hosts the pint night with a unique glass that varies week by week. Customers buy a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with ten percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are just one way for the brewery to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing supports local art and music in Asheville and close, surrounding places, including Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery showcases one artist each month to display their artwork in UpCountry's taproom for display along with for purchase. Apart from a month long campaign, every artist will get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month is there and able to discuss their work, and a pint glass featuring the artist's work is available for purchase. UpCountry values the support of local art, music, and beer, and will continue to show their support for all of these avenues of Asheville. Community and business relationships are important for John Cochran, the owner of UpCountry, along with the support of the staff so the brewery will invariably look forward to continue the Pint Nights.
UpCountry brewing is proud to offer live, local music every night. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We love hosting solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We're even hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. We're also hosting other bands like Mama Danger, Cat and Crow, Astral Plainsmen, Sirius B., The Dirty Badgers, The Junk Drawer, The Free Wheelin' Mamas, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Moonlight Street Folk and more.
Apart from hosting live music, it's already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery was noted for live streaming music, but it's responsive to Phish plays. They generally pull down the huge projector screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! Other live streams the brewery is noted for include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

All of our music may have no cover charge. UpCountry doesn't want to limit the live music to have a cover charge, which is the reason why our events are free to public.

Situated on Haywood Road in West Asheville, we are surrounded by thousands of neighbors and are proud to be their 'neighborhood bar' for parties, huge gatherings, or simply having a beer with friends.
You are certainly thinking about UpCountry when you exited Highway 26 and you are coming up Patton, but you have to think of it when you need a cold, craft beer. We're just right across The Odditorium, which a location in West Asheville that you need to never miss after or before you come to our place.
For those who are just passing through, UpCountry can give you a welcoming and personable experience. Our staff is friendly and Cicerone certified, meaning we are knowledgeable in all things beer! Our beer-tenders are able to offer suggestions based on the kinds of beer you and your friends enjoy. After all, you did venture to the Beer City Capital of the United States!
UpCountry Brewing can provide beer tours by special request and you can check our website for this. Together with beer tastings and a tour of the new taproom, you'll receive a guided tour of the brew house and along with a 'Beer 101' crash course in how to make and produce beer. Together with the beer making process, you'll determine what UpCountry's equipment does, and how each beer is brewed, from the recipe invention to kegging out the finished product in either cans or kegs.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been first class thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done a phenomenal job with developing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
If you do not know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
