The mission of UpCountry Brewing is to help produce great experiences while we share our passion to craft beer, local music and for obtaining outside. UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran, who is referred to as a craft beer industry veteran since the mid 90s. John actually dealt with various beer-related jobs in more than twenty years in the brewing industry and he is excited to go back and produce a small, local brewery concentrating on great beers, fun times and good friends. UpCountry Brewing could be present in 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and this is a taproom, brewery and a music venue.
UpCountry Brewing may offer a lot of beer styles, that could include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and more. With approximately 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is thinking of making new beers for everyone to enjoy. UpCountry offers flights, goblets, pints, and even a twenty-two ounce pour in the taproom. Also, the brewery has beer to go ready for purchase. Beer to go will include a growler with your selection of beer or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Along with availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer could be found all over town in various grocery stores, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding locations.
We also have our extensive beer list that's the best for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity more than anything else in addition to daring recipes that everyone will certainly enjoy. We've lately been infusing a lot of our brews with various syrups and flavors for an additional creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing one step further. We're all about experimenting and seeing what deliciousness we can produce using the knowledge from each brewer!
Apart from this, we provide delicious beer and UpCountry also offers red and white wines and a full liquor bar of gin, vodka, whiskey, tequila and others. You do not need to be a full-on beer geek in order to enjoy our alcohol since we have got choices for everyone. Along with liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year according to the season.
Along with brewing and selling delicious beer, UpCountry offers a full food menu featuring appetizers, pizzas, burgers, salads, hot dogs, soups, and even meals for dogs. We also have dessert choices for the sweet tooths out there, too! Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even though you are on a diet, we will do our best to accommodate you. We have plenty of choices for the entire family and we are kid and dog friendly that you could enjoy.
When you have worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to connect with family or friends and satisfy your hunger. After eating your dinner, lunch or snack, you could try the corn hole or other activities that we have got scheduled at the brewery. Apart from live music, we have got a yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Every month, UpCountry can pick a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry has worked with organizations including Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry could be hosting the pint night with a unique glass that will change every week. Customers will certainly buy a featured beer and they can keep the glass. The 10 percent of the sales could be going to the nonprofit orgs. At UpCountry, community is certainly important and the pint nights could be a great way to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing helps local art and music in Asheville and close, surrounding locations, including Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will show off one artist every month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and purchase. Apart from a month long campaign, every artist will get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can present and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist could be available. UpCountry will invariably support the local music, art and beer in the area and will continue doing this in the foreseeable future. Community and business relationships are important for John Cochran, the owner of UpCountry, along with the support of the staff so the brewery will invariably anticipate continue the Pint Nights.
UpCountry brewing is always proud to offer live, local music on a nightly basis. If you'll take your friends and family members to tourist spots including Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, you could always bring them to UpCountry for a night of Bluegrass, Music bingo, Open Mic, and live local music. We like to host solo musicians including Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We also love hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes! It's going to include various bands including The Paper Crowns, The Dirty Dead and Phuncle Sam. We also have other bands that we love to host like The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Along with hosting live music, it's no secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans! The brewery has been known for live streaming music, but it's extra attention to when Phish plays. They generally pull down the large projector screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! Other live streams the brewery is actually noted for could include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

Along with beer tastings and a tour of the new taproom, you'll receive a guided tour of the brew house and in addition to a 'Beer 101' crash course in how you can make and produce beer. Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design have been the best and it's all thanks to Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an exceptional job with creating the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
If you do not have any idea yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is actually a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has now become a go to spot in Asheville in watching the Georgia Bulldogs. You need to keep an eye out because Cochran will certainly wear his jersey.
