UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran, referred to as a craft beer industry veteran since the 1990s. John has worked many beer-related jobs in his 20+ years in brewing (including co-founding Terrapin Beer Company), and he is excited to get back to his roots by providing a small, local brewery with a spotlight on fun times, good friends, and great beers.
UpCountry Brewing is a brewery, taproom, and music venue found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We like to state that we brew our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it's the brewery located furthest west before leaving Beer City itself.
UpCountry Brewing will offer a range of beer styles, which will include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and much more. We've got over 20 types of beers on tap and we are still looking to create new beers that everyone will undoubtedly enjoy. UpCountry Brewing will offer goblets, pints, flights and a 22-ounce pour in the taproom. Additionally, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go includes a growler with your choice of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. In addition to availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer can be found all over town in various grocery stores, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding areas.
Our extensive beer list is great for beer nerds everywhere. We always value creativity and daring recipes together with those go-to, easy drinking styles that everyone would enjoy. We've got been infusing some of our brews with different syrups and flavors that could provide an additional creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing a step further. We are all about experimenting and seeing what deliciousness we can create using the knowledge from each brewer!
In addition to providing delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines as well as a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. You do not have to be a full-on beer lover to be able to enjoy our alcohol since we have got options for everyone. In addition to liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year according to the season.
Apart from selling and brewing beer, UpCountry could also offer you a full food menu that may include appetizers, pizzas, salads, soups, hot-dogs, burgers and also meals for dogs. UpCountry has worked with organizations for example Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will host the pint night with a unique glass that could be changed every week. Customers can buy a featured beer and they can also keep the glass, with 10 percent profit going to the featured nonprofit. Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the surrounding areas like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist monthly with Bad Craft, an artist shop situated in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will showcase one artist each month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and purchase. In addition to a month long campaign, each artists gets a designated Pint Night at the brewery as well as at Bad Craft. The artist of the month can present and also discuss their work along a pint glass featuring the work of the artist. UpCountry will invariably support the local music, art and beer in the area and will carry on doing this in the future. Apart from live music, it's not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery was known for live streaming music, but it's responsive to Phish plays. They will pull down the big projector screen to be able to stream the show and clear all the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance freely. Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design have been the best and it's all thanks to Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an outstanding job with designing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
If you do not have any idea yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is actually a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Cochran will undoubtedly wear his jersey so you should keep an eye out.
