UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran, who is known as craft beer industry veteran. John worked alongside beer-related jobs in his more than 20 years in brewing and he is very fired up to get back to his root by giving a small, local brewery with a spotlight on fun times, great beers and best friends. UpCountry Brewing is found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it's a brewery, taproom and also a music venue.
UpCountry Brewing will offer a range of beer styles, which will include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and much more. With twenty of its own beers on tap, the brew house is constantly thinking up and creating new beers for Asheville to enjoy. UpCountry offers flights, goblets, pints, and even a twenty-two ounce pour in the taproom. Also, the brewery has beer to go ready for purchase. Beer to go would include a growler with your selection of beer or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Along with availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer can be found all over town in different grocery stores, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding locations.
Our extensive beer list is perfect for beer nerds everywhere. We always value creativity and daring recipes together with those go-to, easy drinking styles that everyone would enjoy. We've recently been infusing some of our brews with different syrups and flavors for an extra creative kick. The brewery also contains a Randall for infusions and also a pilot brew system to take the brewing one step further. We're concentrating on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we can create using the knowledge from every brewer.
Along with offering delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines in addition to a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. You don't need to be a hardcore beer lover to be able to enjoy our alcohol since we've got choices for everyone. Along with liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year based on the season.
Along with brewing and selling delicious beer, UpCountry offers a full food menu featuring appetizers, pizzas, burgers, salads, hot dogs, soups, and even meals for dogs. We also have dessert choices for the sweet tooths out there, too! Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even though you're on a diet, we're going to do our best to accommodate you. We have got plenty of choices for the entire family and we're kid and dog friendly that you may enjoy.
When you have worked up an appetite by hiking at the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the best place to talk with your friends and satisfy your hunger. After consuming your lunch, dinner, or snack, enjoy corn hole or one of the a lot of activities we've got scheduled at the brewery. Aside from live music, we've got a yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Every month, UpCountry can pick a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry already worked different organizations for example Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will host the pint night with a unique glass that will be changed every week. Customers buy a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with 10 percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is absolutely important and the pint nights will be an excellent method to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing helps local art and music in Asheville and close, surrounding locations, for example Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly together with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will show off one artist every month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and purchase. Along with a month long campaign, each artists gets a designated Pint Night at the brewery in addition to at Bad Craft. The artist of the month is present and able to discuss their work, and a pint glass featuring the artist's work is available for purchase. UpCountry will invariably value the support of local music, art and beer and they'll continue to support all of these. Community and business relationships are really important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, in addition to the UpCountry staff, so the brewery looks forward to continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is proud to offer live, local music almost every night. We also love hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes! It'll include different bands for example The Dirty Dead, The Paper Crowns and Phuncle Sam. We also have other bands that we love to host like The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Aside from live music, it's not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery was recognized for live streaming music, but it's sensitive to Phish plays. They will pull down the large projector screen to be able to stream the show and clear all the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance freely. Other live streams the brewery is actually recognized for could include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry Brewing is recognized for being family and kid friendly. We have got a huge outdoor patio space with games for the kiddos in addition to a cornhole set for family and friends to enjoy. Our patio in addition to courtyard are also dog friendly.

For tourists or just for those passing through, UpCountry offers a welcoming and personable experience. Our staff is friendly and Cicerone certified, meaning we're knowledgeable in all things beer! Our beer-tenders are able to offer suggestions based on the types of beer you and your friends enjoy. It's known as the Beer City Capital of the United States.
UpCountry Brewing offers beer tours by special request. Just check our website for info! Along with beer tastings and a tour of the new taproom, you'll obtain a guided tour of the brew house and in addition to a 'Beer 101' crash course in how to make and produce beer. Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been high quality thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done a phenomenal job with creating the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. You must stay tuned because there are several more canning designs that are on the way.
If you don't know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has now become a go to spot in Asheville in watching the Georgia Bulldogs. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
