UpCountry Brewing was actually founded by John Cochran in 2016 and he is known as a craft beer industry veteran. John actually worked alongside beer-related jobs in his twenty years in brewing and he is quite fired up to return to his roots by providing a small, local brewery centering on fun times, great beers and best friends. UpCountry Brewing is now found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it is a tap room, music venue and a brewery.
UpCountry Brewing offers a number of beer styles, including saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts, and more. With about 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is considering making new beers for everyone to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can provide goblets, pints, flights and a 22-ounce pour in the taproom. Also, the brewery has beer to go ready for purchase. Beer to go would include a growler with your preference of beer or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer can be found all over town in several grocery stores, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding places.
Our extensive beer list is suitable for beer nerds everywhere. We always value creativity and daring recipes along with those go-to, easy drinking styles that everyone would enjoy. We're infusing some of our brews with several syrups and flavors which could offer an additional creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing a step further. We're centering on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we can create using the knowledge from every brewer.
Together with providing delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines along with a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. You don't need to be a hard-core beer lover in order to enjoy our alcohol since we have choices for everyone. Together with liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year based on the season.
Aside from selling and brewing beer, UpCountry can also offer you a full food menu that might include appetizers, pizzas, salads, soups, hot dogs, burgers and also meals for dogs. We even have dessert choices for the folks who love sweets. Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Whatever your dietary restrictions, we are going to do our best to accommodate you! We have plenty of choices for the whole family, along with kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.
When you've worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to meet up with friends or family and satisfy your hunger. After devouring your lunch, dinner, or snack, enjoy corn hole or one of the a lot of activities we have scheduled at the brewery. Together with live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry can select a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry definitely worked with various organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will host the pint night with a unique glass which will be changed every week. Customers will surely buy a featured beer and they could keep the glass. The 10 percent of the sales could be going to the nonprofit orgs. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are only one way for the brewery to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is definitely supporting local art and music in Asheville and all the surrounding places for example Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly along with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery showcases one artist each month to display their artwork in UpCountry's taproom for display along with for purchase. Aside from a month long campaign, every artist will get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month is there and able to discuss their work, and a pint glass featuring the artist's work is available for purchase. UpCountry will always value the support of local music, art and beer and they're going to continue to support all of these. Community and business relationships are important for John Cochran, the owner of UpCountry, along with the support of the staff so the brewery will always look ahead to continue the Pint Nights.
UpCountry brewing is always proud to offer live, local music on a nightly basis. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We're always proud to host solo musicians for example Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We also love hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes! These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. We're also hosting other bands like Mama Danger, Cat and Crow, Astral Plainsmen, Sirius B., The Dirty Badgers, The Junk Drawer, The Free Wheelin' Mamas, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Moonlight Street Folk and more.
Aside from live music, it is not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery has been known for live streaming music, but it is extra attention to when Phish plays. They pull down the huge projector screen to stream the show and clear the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance. Other live streams the brewery is noted for include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will always encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

All of our music may have no cover charge. UpCountry doesn't want to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.
Family Friendly/Outdoor Focused
UpCountry Brewing is well noted for being family and kid friendly. We have a huge outdoor patio space with games meant for children and a cornhole set for friends and family to enjoy. Our patio and courtyard is also dog friendly so bring them with you.
At UpCountry Brewing, we always feel that beer and outdoors are related. UpCountry values the outdoor activities that Asheville has to offer, anything from floating down the river to tackling a strenuous mountain trail. Plenty of Asheville residents and visitors love to stay at our outdoor space.

UpCountry Brewing values being that brewery nested in West Asheville for locals to enjoy along with a stop right off of Interstate 40 for tourists and visitors. It is found on Haywood Road in West Asheville and it is surrounded by thousands of neighbors and are very proud to be their "neighborhood bar" for parties, gatherings or simply having beer with friends.
Think of UpCountry when you've exited Highway 26 and you're coming up Patton... but particularly think of UpCountry when you're craving a cold, craft beer. We're right across from our good friends at The Odditorium, a West Asheville staple that you need to totally check out before or after you're at our place.
For tourists or just for those passing through, UpCountry offers a welcoming and personable experience. Our staff is friendly and Cicerone certified, meaning we are knowledgeable in all things beer! Our beer-tenders are able to offer suggestions based on the types of beer you and your friends enjoy. After all, you did venture to the Beer City Capital of the United States!
UpCountry Brewing can provide beer tours by special request and you can look at our website for information. Aside from beer tastings and a tour in the new taproom, you are going to be able to obtain a guided tour of the brew house and a crash course about how to make and produce beer. Together with the beer making process, you are going to determine what UpCountry's equipment does, and how each beer is brewed, from the recipe invention to kegging out the finished product in either cans or kegs.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design is the best thanks to the Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done a phenomenal job with developing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
If you don't know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
