UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran and he is known in the craft beer industry since nineties. John worked alongside beer-related jobs within his twenty years in brewing and he is extremely thrilled to go back to his roots and offer a local brewery centering on great beers, buddies and fun times. UpCountry Brewing is currently located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and this is a tap room, brewery and a music venue.
UpCountry Brewing offers a number of beer styles, including saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts, and more. We have over 20 types of beers on tap and we are still looking to produce new beers that everyone will undoubtedly enjoy. UpCountry Brewing will offer flights, pints, goblets and also a 22-once pour in the taproom. Additionally, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go includes a growler with your preference of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer can be found all over town in different grocery stores, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding places.
We have our extensive beer list that is great for beer nerds everywhere. We always value creativity and daring recipes together with those go-to, easy drinking styles that everyone would enjoy. We have been infusing a lot of our brews with different syrups and flavors which will offer an additional creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing a step further. We always concentrate on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we may make with the use of the knowledge from the brewers.
Apart from this, we offer delicious beer and UpCountry also offers red and white wines and a full liquor bar of gin, vodka, whiskey, tequila and others. You do not have to be a hard core beer expert to enjoy alcohol at our place-we've got options for everyone! Together with liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate through the year according to the season.
Apart from selling and brewing beer, UpCountry can also offer you a full food menu that would include appetizers, pizzas, salads, soups, hot-dogs, burgers and also meals for dogs. If you love sweets, we have got different dessert options available for you. Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even though you are actually on a diet, we will do everything to accommodate you. We have plenty of options for the entire family, along with kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.
Once you have worked up an appetite by hiking at the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the perfect place to meet with your friends and satisfy your hunger. After eating your dinner, lunch or snack, you can try the corn hole or other activities that we have got scheduled at the brewery. Apart from live music, we have got a yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry can pick a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry surely worked with different organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry could be hosting the pint night with a unique glass which will change every week. Customers buy a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with 10 percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is undoubtedly important and the pint nights could be an excellent strategy to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is definitely supporting local art and music in Asheville and all the surrounding places including Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly together with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will showcase one artist each month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and purchase. Apart from the month long campaign, the artist will also get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can present and also discuss their work along a pint glass featuring the work of the artist. UpCountry will invariably value the support of local music, art and beer and they will continue to support all of these. UpCountry brewing is proud to offer live, local music almost every night. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We are always proud to host solo musicians including Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We also love hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes! It is going to include different bands including The Paper Crowns, The Dirty Dead and Phuncle Sam. Other bands that we love to host include The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Apart from hosting live music, it's already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They'll pull down the huge projector screen to be able to stream the show and clear all the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance freely. Other live streams the brewery is known for include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

We offer all our music with no cover charge. UpCountry does not want to limit the live music to have a cover charge, which is the reason why our events are free to public.

UpCountry Brewing values being family and kid friendly. We have a huge outdoor patio space with games which are made for kids and also a cornhole set for the entire family to enjoy. Our patio and courtyard are dog friendly, so bring the pup too!

UpCountry's latest logo re-design is the perfect thanks to the Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an exceptional job with developing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
For those who do not know, UpCountry Brewing's owner, John Cochran, is a DAWG Alum! UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
