UpCountry Brewing was actually established in 2016 by craft beer industry veteran John Cochran. John actually worked alongside different beer-related jobs in more than twenty years in the brewing industry and he is thrilled to go back and create a small, local brewery concentrating on great beers, fun times and buddies. UpCountry Brewing is located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it's referred to as a music venue, brewery and a tap room.
UpCountry Brewing can provide a range of beer styles, which will include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and much more. With twenty of its own beers on tap, the brew house is continually thinking up and making new beers for Asheville to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing may offer goblets, pints, flights and a 22-ounce pour in the taproom. Furthermore, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go includes a growler with your selection of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Along with the taproom, the beer of UpCountry can be seen in different towns and grocery stores, bottle shops and bars positioned in Asheville, together with the towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding locations.
We've got our extensive beer list that is great for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity more than anything else in addition to daring recipes that everyone will absolutely enjoy. When you've worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to meet up with friends or family and satisfy your hunger. After consuming your lunch, dinner, or snack, enjoy corn hole or one of the lots of activities we have got scheduled at the brewery. Along with live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry will be choosing a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry already worked different organizations like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will be hosting the pint night with a unique glass that could change every week. Customers will absolutely buy a featured beer and they can keep the glass. The 10 percent of the sales will be going to the nonprofit orgs. At UpCountry, community is absolutely important and the pint nights will be a fantastic strategy to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the surrounding locations like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will display one artist each month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and purchase. Aside from the month long campaign, the artist will also get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can display and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist will be available. UpCountry will invariably support the local music, art and beer in your community and will continue to do this in the foreseeable future. Community and business relationships are important for John Cochran, the owner of UpCountry, together with the support of the staff so the brewery will invariably look ahead to continue the Pint Nights.
UpCountry brewing is always proud to offer live, local music on a nightly basis. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We like to host solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We even host those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. We're also hosting other bands like Mama Danger, Cat and Crow, Astral Plainsmen, Sirius B., The Dirty Badgers, The Junk Drawer, The Free Wheelin' Mamas, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Moonlight Street Folk and more.
Aside from live music, it's not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is known for live streaming music, but it's extra focus on when Phish plays. They pull down the large projector screen to stream the show and clear the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance. Other live streams the brewery is actually noted for could include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will invariably encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

UpCountry's latest logo re-design is the perfect thanks to the Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an outstanding job with creating the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. You have to stay tuned as there are several more canning designs which are on the way.
If you do not have any idea yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is actually a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has now become a go to spot in Asheville in watching the Georgia Bulldogs. You have to keep an eye out because Cochran will absolutely wear his jersey.
