UpCountry Brewing was first set up in 2016 by craft beer industry veteran John Cochran. John already has lots of beer-related jobs within his 20 years in brewing and he is quite excited to acquire back to his roots by giving a small, local brewery focusing on good friends, terrific beers and fun times.
UpCountry Brewing is a brewery, taproom, and music venue located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We like to claim that we brew our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it is the brewery located furthest west prior to leaving Beer City itself.
UpCountry Brewing may offer lots of beer styles, that would include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and more. With twenty of its own beers on tap, the brew house is constantly thinking up and making new beers for Asheville to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can offer flights, pints, goblets and also a 22-once pour in the taproom. Furthermore, the brewery has beer to go for buy! Beer to go features a growler with your choice of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing one step further. Even if you are on a diet, we're going to do our best to accommodate you. On Thursdays, UpCountry will be hosting the pint night with a unique glass that could change every week. Buyers purchase a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with ten percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is essential, and these pint nights are only one way for the brewery to provide back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing helps local art and music in Asheville and close, neighboring areas, including Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery showcases one artist each month to show their artwork in UpCountry's taproom for display as well as for buy. Aside from a month long campaign, every artist will get a delegated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can show and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist will be available. We are also hosting other bands like Mama Danger, Cat and Crow, Astral Plainsmen, Sirius B., The Dirty Badgers, The Junk Drawer, The Free Wheelin' Mamas, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Cyndi Lou and The Wish to, Moonlight Street Folk and more.
Aside from live music, it is not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery has been known for live streaming music, but it is extra attention to when Phish plays. They generally pull down the big projection screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! The other known live streams that the brewery is focusing on are Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry encourages Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

We provide all of our music with NO cover charge. UpCountry doesn't wish to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

UpCountry Brewing values being family and kid friendly. We have got a big outdoor patio space with games designed for children and a cornhole set for family and friends to enjoy. Our patio and courtyard is also dog friendly so bring them with you.
At UpCountry Brewing, we think that beer and the outdoors go in conjunction. UpCountry values the outdoor activities that Asheville has to provide, anything from floating down the river to tackling a strenuous mountain trail. Our outdoor area is a favorite hangout spot for Asheville residents and visitors alike.

UpCountry Brewing provides beer tours by special request. Just check our website for info! Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been high quality thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did a terrific job in designing the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. There are a lot of canning designs on the way so you have to stay tuned.
If you don't know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. You need to keep an eye out because Cochran will surely wear his jersey.
UpCountry has been hosting wedding rehearsals, private events, catering events, birthday celebrations and more in the past. Plan yours here!
