UpCountry Brewing was first set up in 2016 by craft beer industry veteran John Cochran. John has a wide experience with regards to beer-related jobs because he's been in this industry for more than 20 years so he is quite excited to go back to his roots by providing a local brewery focusing on wonderful beer, fun times and good friends.
UpCountry Brewing is a taproom, brewery and a music venue that you can find at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We may want to claim that we are brewing our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it is the brewery found furthest west.
UpCountry Brewing may offer lots of beer styles, that will include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and more. Our extensive beer list is great for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity and daring recipes as well as those go-to, easy drinking styles that any individual can enjoy. The brewery also contains a Randall for infusions and also a pilot brew system to take the brewing a step further. If you love sweets, we've got different dessert alternatives available for you. Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Whatever your dietary restrictions, we are going to do our best to accommodate you! We have plenty of choices for the whole family, as well as kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.

Each month, UpCountry can pick a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry already worked various organizations like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will be hosting the pint night with a unique glass that will change every week. Consumers can buy a featured beer and they can also keep the glass, with 10 percent profit going to the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are just one method for the brewery to provide back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing helps local art and music in Asheville and close, surrounding areas, like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will be presenting one artist a month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for purchase and display. In addition to a month long campaign, each artists gets a designated Pint Night at the brewery as well as at Bad Craft. The artist of the month can present and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist will be available. UpCountry values the support of local art, music, and beer, and will continue to show their support for all of these avenues of Asheville. Community and business relationships are incredibly important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, as well as the UpCountry staff, so the brewery looks forward to continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is proud to offer live, local music almost every night. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We like to host solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We're even hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. It is going to include different bands like The Dirty Dead, The Paper Crowns and Phuncle Sam. We also have other bands that we love to host like The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
In addition to hosting live music, it is no secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans! The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They're going to pull down the big projector screen to be able to stream the show and clear all the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance freely. Other live streams the brewery is really recognized for would include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will always encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

UpCountry's latest logo re-design is the perfect thanks to the Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an exceptional job with designing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
If you don't have any idea yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is really a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. You should keep an eye out because Cochran will absolutely wear his jersey.
