Our mission at UpCountry Brewing is to help construct great experiences and to share our passion when it comes to local music, beer crafting and more. We are doing this by focusing on the Carolina mountain region where we are located.

UpCountry Brewing was first set up in 2016 by craft beer industry veteran John Cochran. John has a wide experience when it comes to beer-related jobs because he's been in this industry for more than 20 years so he is extremely excited to go back to his roots by providing a local brewery focusing on terrific beer, fun times and good friends.

UpCountry Brewing is a taproom, brewery and a music venue that you can find at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We like to claim that we brew our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it's the brewery located furthest west prior to leaving Beer City itself.

Every month, UpCountry will choose a different local nonprofit that might represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry already worked with various organizations like Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School.

On Thursdays, UpCountry will host the pint night along with a unique glass that varies every week. Buyers can easily purchase a featured beer and they can keep the glass. The 10 percent of the sales of that beer will go to the featured nonprofit organization. Community is very important for UpCountry because these pint nights are a method for them to provide back to the community.

Local Art And Music

UpCountry Brewing is definitely supporting local art and music in Asheville and all the neighboring areas such as Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.

In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery can be presenting one artist a month to show their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for buy and display. Aside from a month long campaign, every artist will get a delegated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can present and also discuss their work along a pint glass featuring the work of the artist. UpCountry values the support of local art, music, and beer, and will continue to exhibit their support for all of these avenues of Asheville. We even host those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. It will include various bands such as The Paper Crowns, The Dirty Dead and Phuncle Sam. Other bands that we love to host include The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Wish to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.

Aside from hosting live music, it's already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery has been known for live streaming music, but it's extra attention to when Phish plays. They usually pull down the big projection screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! Other live streams the brewery is definitely known for could include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will always encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

UpCountry's latest logo re-design is the perfect thanks to the Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done a phenomenal job with designing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are tons of canning designs on the way so you need to stay tuned.

Georgia Bulldogs

If you do not know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. You have to keep an eye out because Cochran will definitely wear his jersey.
