UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran, who is known as craft beer industry veteran. John worked with beer-related jobs in his more than Twenty years in brewing and he is very fired up to get back to his root by providing a small, local brewery with a spotlight on fun times, wonderful beers and best friends. UpCountry Brewing is located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it is known as a music venue, brewery and a tap room.
UpCountry Brewing offers a number of beer styles, including saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts, and more. With about 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is considering making new beers for everyone to enjoy. UpCountry offers flights, goblets, pints, and even a twenty-two ounce pour in the taproom. Additionally, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go features a growler with your selection of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with the taproom, the beer of UpCountry may be seen in different towns and grocery stores, bottle shops and bars situated in Asheville, along with the towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding locations.
Our extensive beer list is great for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity and daring recipes in addition to those go-to, easy drinking styles that anybody can enjoy. We are infusing some of our brews with different syrups and flavors that may offer an extra creative kick. The brewery also contains a Randall for infusions and also a pilot brew system to take the brewing a step further. Each month, UpCountry will be picking a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry already worked different organizations including Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry hosts the pint night with a unique glass that varies week by week. Consumers buy a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with ten percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are only one way for the brewery to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is really supporting local art and music in Asheville and all the surrounding locations including Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist monthly with Bad Craft, an artist shop situated in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery showcases one artist every month to display their artwork in UpCountry's taproom for display in addition to for purchase. Aside from a month long campaign, every artist will get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. Other bands that we love to host include The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Apart from hosting live music, it is already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is known for live streaming music, but it is extra focus on when Phish plays. They're going to pull down the large projector screen to be able to stream the show and clear all the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance freely. Other live streams the brewery is really known for would include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry's latest logo re-design is the perfect thanks to the Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did an incredible job in creating the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
If you do not have any idea yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is really a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has now become a go to spot in Asheville in watching the Georgia Bulldogs. You have to keep an eye out because Cochran will absolutely wear his jersey.
