UpCountry Brewing was established in 2016 by John Cochran, referred to as a craft beer industry veteran since the nineteen nineties. John has a wide experience with regards to beer-related jobs because he's been in this industry for more than 20 years so he is quite excited to go back to his roots by offering a local brewery focusing on fantastic beer, fun times and good friends.
UpCountry Brewing is referred to as a brewery, taproom and also a music venue found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We like to state that we brew our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it is the brewery located furthest west prior to leaving Beer City itself.
UpCountry Brewing can offer a range of beer styles, which will include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and much more. With twenty of its own beers on tap, the brew house is continually thinking up and making new beers for Asheville to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can provide goblets, pints, flights and a 22-ounce pour in the taproom. In addition, the brewery has beer to go for buy! Beer to go features a growler with your choice of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. In addition to availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer may be found all over town in several supermarkets, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and neighboring areas.
We also have our extensive beer list that's the best for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativeness and daring recipes as well as those go-to, easy drinking styles that anybody can enjoy. We are infusing some of our brews with several syrups and flavors that may provide an extra creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing a step further. We are focusing on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we can create using the knowledge from every brewer.
Aside from this, we offer delicious beer and UpCountry also provides red and white wines and a full liquor bar of gin, vodka, whiskey, tequila and others. You don't have to be a hard-core beer lover to enjoy alcohol at our place-we've got choices for everybody! In addition to liquor, UpCountry provides craft signature cocktails that rotate through the year depending on the season.
Apart from selling and brewing beer, UpCountry might also offer you a full food menu that will include appetizers, pizzas, salads, soups, hot-dogs, burgers and also meals for dogs. We even have dessert choices for the people who love sweets. Our wide menu variety provides something for everybody! We are also vegan and gluten-free friendly. In addition to live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry prefers a different local nonprofit to represent their 'Miracle Pint Night' each Thursday. UpCountry has worked with organizations like Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry hosts the pint night with a unique glass that varies week by week. Clients purchase a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with 10 percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is actually essential and these pint nights will be a method for the brewery to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing supports local art and music in Asheville and close, neighboring areas, like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist monthly with Bad Craft, an artist shop positioned in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will display one artist every month to show their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and buy. Aside from the month long campaign, the artist will also get a delegated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can present and also discuss their work along a pint glass featuring the work of the artist. UpCountry will always value the support of local music, art and beer and they'll continue to support all of these. Community and business relationships are essential for John Cochran, the owner of UpCountry, together with the support of the staff so the brewery will always look ahead to continue the Pint Nights.
UpCountry brewing is proud to provide live, local music almost every night. If you will take your family and friends members to tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, you may always bring them to UpCountry for a night of Bluegrass, Music bingo, Open Mic, and live local music. We are always proud to host solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We even host those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. We also have other bands that we love to host like The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Wish to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Apart from hosting live music, it is already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They'll pull down the big projection screen to be able to stream the show and clear all the chairs and tables in the music room so everybody can dance freely. Other live streams the brewery is known for include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry encourages Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

Our staff is friendly and Cicerone certified, meaning we are knowledgeable in all things beer! We have our beer-tenders that may offer suggestions depending on the type of beer that you want. It's referred to as the Beer City Capital of the United States.
UpCountry Brewing can offer beer tours by special request and you may check our website for this. In addition to beer tastings and a tour of the new taproom, you will obtain a guided tour of the brew house and as well as a 'Beer 101' crash course in how you can make and produce beer. Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been highly rated thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did an incredible job in designing the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
If you do not have any idea yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is actually a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
