UpCountry Brewing was actually founded by John Cochran in 2016 and he is referred to as a craft beer industry veteran. John actually worked with beer-related jobs in his twenty years in brewing and he is very fired up to return to his roots by offering a small, local brewery centering on fun times, wonderful beers and best friends. UpCountry Brewing is now found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it's a tap room, music venue and a brewery.
UpCountry Brewing can provide a range of beer styles, which will include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and many more. With about 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is thinking of making new beers for everyone to enjoy. UpCountry offers flights, goblets, pints, and even a twenty-two ounce pour in the taproom. Furthermore, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go features a growler with your preference of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer may be found all over town in several grocery stores, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding places.
We've got our extensive beer list that's the best for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity and daring recipes along with those go-to, easy drinking styles that any person can enjoy. We are infusing a lot of our brews with several syrups and flavors that can offer an extra creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions, along with a pilot brew system to take brewing an extra step further. We are all about experimenting and seeing what deliciousness we can create using the knowledge from each brewer!
Together with offering delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines along with a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. You do not have to be a hard core beer expert to enjoy alcohol at our place-we've got choices for everyone! Together with liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year according to the season.
Aside from brewing and selling beer, UpCountry can provide a full food menu that features appetizers, burgers, pizzas, salads, soups, hot-dogs and meals for dogs. If you love sweets, we've got different dessert choices available for you. Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Whatever your dietary restrictions, we are going to do our best to accommodate you! We have plenty of choices for the entire family, along with kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.
When you have worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to connect with family or friends and satisfy your hunger. After you eat your dinner, lunch or snack, you could always try our corn hole and other activities scheduled at the brewery. Together with live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry will be selecting a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry undoubtedly worked with various organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will host the pint night with a unique glass that could be changed every week. Consumers will absolutely buy a featured beer and they could keep the glass. The ten percent of the sales will be going to the nonprofit orgs. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are only one method for the brewery to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is definitely supporting local art and music in Asheville and all the surrounding places like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly along with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will be exhibiting one artist a month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for purchase and display. Aside from the month long campaign, the artist can also get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month is present and able to discuss their work, and a pint glass featuring the artist's work is available for purchase. UpCountry will invariably support the local music, art and beer in the area and will continue doing this in the foreseeable future. Community and business relationships are really important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, along with the UpCountry staff, so the brewery looks forward to continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is always proud to offer live, local music on a nightly basis. If you'll take your friends and family members to tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, you could always bring them to UpCountry for a night of Bluegrass, Music bingo, Open Mic, and live local music. We like to host solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We are even hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. It'll include different bands like The Dirty Dead, The Paper Crowns and Phuncle Sam. We've got other bands that we love to host like The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Aside from live music, it's not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They will pull down the huge projector screen to be able to stream the show and clear all the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance freely. The other known live streams that the brewery is centering on are Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

We offer all of our music with NO cover charge. UpCountry does not want to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

UpCountry Brewing is recognized for being family and kid friendly. We have a huge outdoor patio space with games designed for kids and a cornhole set for family and friends to enjoy. Our patio and courtyard is also dog friendly so bring them with you.
At UpCountry Brewing, we always feel that beer and outdoors are linked. UpCountry values the outdoor activities that Asheville has to offer, everything from floating down the river to tackling a strenuous mountain trail. Plenty of Asheville residents and visitors love to stay at our outdoor space.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design have been the best and it's all thanks to Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done a phenomenal job with developing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. You need to stay tuned as there are several more canning designs which are on the way.
If you do not know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
