UpCountry Brewing started by John Cochran in 2016 and he is popularly referred to as among the best in the craft beer industry since 1990's. John actually worked with beer-related jobs in his twenty years in brewing and he is quite excited to go back to his roots by offering a small, local brewery centering on fun times, wonderful beers and good friends. UpCountry Brewing is currently found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and this is a tap room, brewery and a music venue.
UpCountry Brewing will offer a range of beer styles, which will include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and many more. With twenty of its own beers on tap, the brew house is consistently thinking about and making new beers for Asheville to enjoy. UpCountry offers flights, goblets, pints, and even a twenty-two ounce pour in the taproom. Additionally, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go features a growler with your preference of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer may be found all over town in several grocery stores, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding places.
Our extensive beer list is suitable for beer nerds everywhere. We always value creativity and daring recipes together with those go-to, easy drinking styles that everyone would enjoy. We have got been infusing some of our brews with various syrups and flavors that can offer an extra creative kick. The brewery also contains a Randall for infusions and also a pilot brew system to take the brewing one step further. We always concentrate on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we will make with the use of the knowledge from the brewers.
Together with offering delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines along with a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. We have got selections for everyone so you do not have to be a hard-core beer expert in order to enjoy our alcohol. Apart from liquor, UpCountry will offer signature cocktails which will rotate throughout the year based on the season.
Apart from brewing and selling beer, UpCountry will offer a full food menu that features appetizers, burgers, pizzas, salads, soups, hot-dogs and meals for dogs. If you love sweets, we have got different dessert alternatives available for you. Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even if you're on a diet, we will do our best to accommodate you. We have got plenty of selections for the whole family, along with kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.
When you have worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to connect to family or friends and satisfy your hunger. After eating your dinner, lunch or snack, you can try the corn hole or other activities that we have got scheduled at the brewery. Together with live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry can pick a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry has worked with organizations like Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry could be hosting the pint night with a unique glass that can change every week. Consumers will definitely buy a featured beer and they could keep the glass. The 10 percent of the sales could be going to the nonprofit orgs. At UpCountry, community is definitely important and the pint nights could be an excellent way to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the surrounding places like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly along with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will showcase one artist every month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and purchase. Apart from a month long campaign, every artist will get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can display and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist could be available. UpCountry will invariably support the local music, art and beer in your community and will continue doing this in the future. Community and business relationships are important for John Cochran, the owner of UpCountry, along with the support of the staff so the brewery will invariably look ahead to continue the Pint Nights.
UpCountry brewing is proud to offer live, local music every night. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We're always proud to host solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We're even hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. Other bands that we love to host include The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Apart from hosting live music, it's already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery was known for live streaming music, but it's responsive to Phish plays. They pull down the huge projector screen to stream the show and clear the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance. Other live streams the brewery is definitely known for could include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will invariably encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

We offer all our music with no cover charge. UpCountry does not want to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

Located on Haywood Road in West Asheville, we are surrounded by thousands of neighbors and are proud to be their 'neighborhood bar' for parties, huge gatherings, or simply having a beer with friends.
You need to think of UpCountry when you have exited Highway 26 and you coming up to Patton, but you should think of UpCountry when you're searching for the best beer. We're just right across The Odditorium, which a spot in West Asheville that you have to never miss after or before you decide to come to our place.
For the folks who are only passing through, UpCountry will offer a welcoming and personable experience. We have got a friendly and certified staff so we understand everything about beer. UpCountry Brewing can offer beer tours by special request and you can look at our website for info. Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design have been the best and it's all thanks to Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did a terrific job in developing the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. You need to stay tuned as there are several more canning designs that are on the way.
If you do not know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Cochran will definitely wear his jersey so you should keep an eye out.
