UpCountry Brewing was actually founded by John Cochran in 2016 and he is referred to as a craft beer industry veteran. We have over 20 types of beers on tap and we are still looking to produce new beers that everyone will unquestionably enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can provide flights, pints, goblets and also a 22-once pour in the taproom. In addition, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go includes a growler with your preference of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with brewing and selling delicious beer, UpCountry offers a full food menu featuring appetizers, pizzas, burgers, salads, hot dogs, soups, and even meals for dogs. If you love sweets, we also have different dessert choices available for you. Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Whatever your dietary restrictions, we will do our best to accommodate you! We have tons of selections for the entire family and we are kid and dog friendly that you can enjoy.
When you have worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the perfect place to connect to family or friends and satisfy your hunger. After you eat your dinner, lunch or snack, you can always try our corn hole and other activities scheduled at the brewery. Apart from live music, we also offer yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry can be choosing a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry has worked with organizations such as Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry hosts the pint night with a unique glass that varies week by week. Consumers can buy a featured beer and they can also keep the glass, with 10 percent profit going to the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is basically important and these pint nights can be a method for the brewery to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the surrounding places like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly along with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery showcases one artist every month to display their artwork in UpCountry's taproom for display along with for purchase. Together with a month long campaign, each artists gets a designated Pint Night at the brewery along with at Bad Craft. The artist of the month is present and able to discuss their work, and a pint glass featuring the artist's work is available for purchase. UpCountry values the support of local art, music, and beer, and will continue to demonstrate their support for all of these avenues of Asheville. Community and business relationships are extremely important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, along with the UpCountry staff, so the brewery anticipates continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is proud to offer live, local music almost every night. If you are going to take your friends and family members to tourist spots such as Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, you can always bring them to UpCountry for a night of Bluegrass, Music bingo, Open Mic, and live local music. We like to host solo musicians such as Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We are even hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. It will include different bands such as The Dirty Dead, The Paper Crowns and Phuncle Sam. We are also hosting other bands like Mama Danger, Cat and Crow, Astral Plainsmen, Sirius B., The Dirty Badgers, The Junk Drawer, The Free Wheelin' Mamas, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Moonlight Street Folk and more.
Apart from hosting live music, it's already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They usually pull down the huge projector screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! Other live streams the brewery is really recognized for would include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

Located on Haywood Road in West Asheville, we are surrounded by thousands of neighbors and are proud to be their 'neighborhood bar' for parties, huge gatherings, or simply having a beer with friends.
Think of UpCountry when you've exited Highway 26 and you're coming up Patton... but specifically think of UpCountry when you're craving a cold, craft beer. We're right across from our good friends at The Odditorium, a West Asheville staple that you should totally check out before or after you're at our place.
For tourists or just for those passing through, UpCountry offers a welcoming and personable experience. We have a friendly and certified staff so we understand everything about beer. Our beer-tenders are able to offer suggestions based on the types of beer you and your friends enjoy. After all, you did venture to the Beer City Capital of the United States!
UpCountry Brewing can provide beer tours by special request and you can check our website for this. Apart from beer tastings and a tour in the new taproom, you are going to be able to obtain a guided tour of the brew house and a crash course about how to make and produce beer. Together with the beer making process, you are going to determine what UpCountry's equipment does, and how each beer is brewed, from the recipe invention to kegging out the finished product in either cans or kegs.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been first class thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an outstanding job with developing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
For those who don't know, UpCountry Brewing's owner, John Cochran, is a DAWG Alum! UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
