UpCountry Brewing was first established in 2016 by craft beer industry veteran John Cochran. UpCountry Brewing is a brewery, taproom, and music venue found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We like to claim that we brew our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it's the brewery located furthest west prior to leaving Beer City itself.

UpCountry Brewing may offer plenty of beer styles, that could include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and more. With approximately 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is thinking about making new beers for everybody to enjoy. Every month, UpCountry will be selecting a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry absolutely worked with different organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will host the pint night with a unique glass which will be changed every week. Clients purchase a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with 10 percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is really essential and these pint nights will be a way for the brewery to give back.

Local Art And Music

UpCountry Brewing helps local art and music in Asheville and close, neighboring areas, including Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.

In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist monthly with Bad Craft, an artist shop positioned in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery showcases one artist every month to show their artwork in UpCountry's taproom for display as well as for buy. Aside from a month long campaign, every artist will get a delegated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. We also love hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes! It is going to include different bands including The Dirty Dead, The Paper Crowns and Phuncle Sam. We've got other bands that we love to host like The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Wish to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.

Aside from live music, it's not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They are going to pull down the big projection screen to be able to stream the show and clear all the chairs and tables in the music room so everybody can dance freely. Other live streams the brewery is recognized for include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry encourages Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did a great job in designing the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!

Georgia Bulldogs

If you do not know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Cochran will certainly wear his jersey so you need to keep an eye out.
