UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran and he is known in the craft beer industry since 1990s. John actually worked alongside beer-related jobs in his twenty years in brewing and he is very thrilled to return to his roots by offering a small, local brewery centering on fun times, wonderful beers and buddies. UpCountry Brewing is now located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it's a tap room, music venue and a brewery.
UpCountry Brewing can provide lots of beer styles, that may include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and more. With twenty of its own beers on tap, the brew house is continually thinking up and making new beers for Asheville to enjoy. UpCountry offers flights, goblets, pints, and even a twenty-two ounce pour in the taproom. Furthermore, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go features a growler with your preference of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer may be found all over town in several grocery stores, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding places.
We have our extensive beer list that is ideal for beer nerds everywhere. We always value creativity and daring recipes along with those go-to, easy drinking styles that everyone would enjoy. We've lately been infusing a lot of our brews with several syrups and flavors for an additional creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing one step further. We always concentrate on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we may make with the use of the knowledge from the brewers.

We even have dessert options for the folks who love sweets. Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even if you are actually on a diet, we're going to try everything to accommodate you. We have a lot of options for the entire family and we are kid and dog friendly that you can enjoy.
When you have worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to connect to family or friends and satisfy your hunger. After eating your dinner, lunch or snack, you can try the corn hole or other activities that we have scheduled at the brewery. Aside from live music, we have a yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry chooses a different local nonprofit to represent their 'Miracle Pint Night' each Thursday. UpCountry already worked several organizations including Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will host the pint night with a unique glass that will be changed every week. Consumers will certainly buy a featured beer and they could keep the glass. The 10 percent of the sales can be going to the nonprofit organizations. At UpCountry, community is absolutely important and these pint nights can be a way for the brewery to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the surrounding places like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery showcases one artist every month to display their artwork in UpCountry's taproom for display along with for purchase. Aside from the month long campaign, the artist can also get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month is there and able to discuss their work, and a pint glass featuring the artist's work is available for purchase. UpCountry values the support of local art, music, and beer, and will continue to show their support for all of these avenues of Asheville. Community and business relationships are important for John Cochran, the owner of UpCountry, along with the support of the staff so the brewery will always look ahead to continue the Pint Nights.
UpCountry brewing is proud to offer live, local music almost every night. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We love hosting solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We also love hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes! These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. We also have other bands that we love to host like The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Together with hosting live music, it is no secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans! The brewery has been known for live streaming music, but it's extra attention to when Phish plays. They generally pull down the huge projector screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! The other known live streams that the brewery is centering on are Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

We offer all our music with no cover charge. UpCountry does not want to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

UpCountry Brewing is known for being family and kid friendly. We have a huge outdoor patio space with games that are made for children and also a cornhole set for the whole family to enjoy. Our patio and courtyard are dog friendly, so bring the pup too!

It is located on Haywood Road in West Asheville and it's surrounded by thousands of neighbors and are very proud to be their "neighborhood bar" for parties, gatherings or simply having beer with friends.
You have to think of UpCountry when you have exited Highway 26 and you coming up to Patton, but you must think of UpCountry when you are looking for the best beer. We're just right across The Odditorium, which is a West Asheville staple that you can visit before or after you come to our place.
For the folks who are only passing through, UpCountry can offer a welcoming and personable experience. Our staff is friendly and Cicerone certified, meaning we're knowledgeable in all things beer! Our beer-tenders are able to offer suggestions based on the kinds of beer you and your friends enjoy. It is referred to as the Beer City Capital of the United States.
UpCountry Brewing offers beer tours by special request. Just check our website for information! UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been top notch thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an exceptional job with developing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
If you do not know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. You have to keep an eye out because Cochran will certainly wear his jersey.
