UpCountry Brewing started by John Cochran in 2016 and he is popularly known as one of the best in the craft beer industry since 1990's. John actually dealt with beer-related jobs in his twenty years in brewing and he is extremely excited to go back to his roots by providing a small, local brewery centering on fun times, wonderful beers and good friends. UpCountry Brewing is now found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it is a tap room, music venue and a brewery.
UpCountry Brewing offers numerous types of beer styles, including saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts, and more. With approximately 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is thinking about making new beers for everyone to enjoy. UpCountry offers flights, goblets, pints, and even a twenty-two ounce pour in the taproom. In addition, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go features a growler with your preference of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Along with the taproom, the beer of UpCountry may be found in several towns and grocery stores, bottle shops and bars situated in Asheville, together with the towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding places.
Our extensive beer list is suitable for beer nerds everywhere. We always value creativity and daring recipes together with those go-to, easy drinking styles that everyone would enjoy. We've lately been infusing a lot of our brews with several syrups and flavors for an extra creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing one step further. We are centering on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we can create using the knowledge from every brewer.
Together with providing delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines along with a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. Together with liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year based on the season.
Apart from selling and brewing beer, UpCountry could also offer you a full food menu that may include appetizers, pizzas, salads, soups, hot dogs, burgers and also meals for dogs. If you love sweets, we have got different dessert choices available for you. Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even if you are actually on a diet, we will try everything to accommodate you. We have got plenty of choices for the entire family, along with kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.
When you have worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to connect with family or friends and satisfy your hunger. After you eat your dinner, lunch or snack, you could always try our corn hole and other activities scheduled at the brewery. Together with live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry can be choosing a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry has worked with organizations like Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will host the pint night with a unique glass that can be changed every week. Consumers buy a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with ten percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are just one way for the brewery to provide back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is definitely supporting local art and music in Asheville and all the surrounding places like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will show off one artist every month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and purchase. Apart from a month long campaign, every artist will get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can show and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist can be available. UpCountry will always support the local music, art and beer in your community and will continue to do this in the foreseeable future. Community and business relationships are extremely important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, along with the UpCountry staff, so the brewery looks forward to continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is proud to offer live, local music almost every night. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We like to host solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We even host those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. We are also hosting other bands like Mama Danger, Cat and Crow, Astral Plainsmen, Sirius B., The Dirty Badgers, The Junk Drawer, The Free Wheelin' Mamas, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Moonlight Street Folk and more.
Apart from live music, it is not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery was noted for live streaming music, but it is responsive to Phish plays. They pull down the huge projector screen to stream the show and clear the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance. Other live streams the brewery is noted for include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

We offer all of our music with NO cover charge. UpCountry does not want to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

UpCountry Brewing is noted for being family and kid friendly. We have got a huge outdoor patio space with games that are made for kids and also a cornhole set for the entire family to enjoy. Our patio along with courtyard are also dog friendly.

It's located on Haywood Road in West Asheville and it is surrounded by thousands of neighbors and are incredibly proud to be their "neighborhood bar" for parties, gatherings or simply having beer with friends.

We're right across from our good friends at The Odditorium, a West Asheville staple that you should totally take a look at before or after you're at our place.
For tourists or just for those passing through, UpCountry offers a welcoming and personable experience. We have got friendly and knowledgeable staff so we understand all about beer. UpCountry Brewing can provide beer tours by special request and you could check our website for this. Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been first class thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done a phenomenal job with developing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are plenty of canning designs on the way so you should stay tuned.
If you do not have any idea yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is definitely a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. You must keep an eye out because Cochran will undoubtedly wear his jersey.
