UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran, known as a craft beer industry veteran since the nineties. John has worked many beer-related jobs in his 20+ years in brewing (including co-founding Terrapin Beer Company), and he is excited to get back to his roots by providing a small, local brewery with a spotlight on fun times, good friends, and wonderful beers.
UpCountry Brewing is known as a brewery, taproom and also a music venue located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We like to state that we brew our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it is the brewery located furthest west prior to leaving Beer City itself.
UpCountry Brewing can provide a range of beer styles, which will include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and much more. We have over 20 kinds of beers on tap and we are still seeking to create new beers that everyone will unquestionably enjoy. UpCountry Brewing will offer goblets, pints, flights and a 22-ounce pour in the taproom. Furthermore, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go includes a growler with your choice of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with the taproom, the beer of UpCountry may be located in various towns and grocery stores, bottle shops and bars located in Asheville, together with the towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding areas.
We have our extensive beer list that's ideal for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity and daring recipes as well as those go-to, easy drinking styles that any individual can enjoy. We're infusing some of our brews with various syrups and flavors that could offer an additional creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing a step further. In addition to liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year based on the season.
Apart from brewing and selling beer, UpCountry can provide a full food menu that features appetizers, burgers, pizzas, salads, soups, hotdogs and meals for dogs. If you love sweets, we have got different dessert options available for you. Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even though you are on a diet, we are going to do our best to accommodate you. We have plenty of selections for the whole family, as well as kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.

Every month, UpCountry will be choosing a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry definitely worked with different organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will be hosting the pint night with a unique glass that could change every week. Consumers will unquestionably buy a featured beer and they could keep the glass. The ten percent of the sales will be going to the nonprofit organizations. At UpCountry, community is absolutely important and these pint nights will be a method for the brewery to provide back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is really supporting local art and music in Asheville and all the surrounding areas like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly together with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will be showcasing one artist a month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for purchase and display. Apart from the month long campaign, the artist will also get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month is there and able to discuss their work, and a pint glass featuring the artist's work is available for purchase. UpCountry brewing is proud to offer live, local music almost every night. In addition to hosting live music, it's no secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans! The brewery was known for live streaming music, but it is responsive to Phish plays. They generally pull down the big projector screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! Other live streams the brewery is really known for would include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry encourages Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

All of our music may have no cover charge. UpCountry doesn't want to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been high quality thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an exceptional job with designing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are tons of canning designs on the way so you need to stay tuned.
For those who don't know, UpCountry Brewing's owner, John Cochran, is a DAWG Alum! UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. You must keep an eye out because Cochran will unquestionably wear his jersey.
