UpCountry Brewing was established in 2016 by John Cochran and he is known in the craft beer industry since 1990's. John worked alongside beer-related jobs within his 20 years in brewing and he is very thrilled to go back to his roots and provide a local brewery centering on fantastic beers, buddies and fun times. UpCountry Brewing is now found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it is a tap room, music venue and a brewery.
UpCountry Brewing provides a wide variety of beer styles, including saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts, and more. We've got over 20 types of beers on tap and we're still planning to create new beers that everybody will definitely enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can provide flights, pints, goblets and also a 22-once pour in the taproom. Furthermore, the brewery has beer to go for buy! Beer to go includes a growler with your preference of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Each month, UpCountry will choose a different local nonprofit that may represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry already worked alongside different organizations like Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School.
On Thursdays, UpCountry will host the pint night together with a unique glass. Clients can certainly purchase a featured beer and they could keep the glass. The 10 percent of the sales of that beer can go to the featured nonprofit organization. This is very important for UpCountry because they are actually using pint night to give back to the community.

We love hosting solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We also love hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes! These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. Other bands that we love to host include The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Wish to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Aside from hosting live music, it is already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is known for live streaming music, but it is extra focus on when Phish plays. They will pull down the huge projection screen to be able to stream the show and clear all the chairs and tables in the music room so everybody can dance freely. The other known live streams that the brewery is centering on are Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been high quality thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did a fantastic job in developing the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
For those who don't know, UpCountry Brewing's owner, John Cochran, is a DAWG Alum! UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. You should keep an eye out because Cochran will definitely wear his jersey.
