UpCountry Brewing began in 2016 by John Cochran, a craft beer industry veteran since the mid-1990's. John has worked lots of beer-related jobs in his 20+ years in brewing (including co-founding Terrapin Beer Company), and he is excited to obtain back to his roots by providing a small, local brewery with a spotlight on fun times, good friends, and fantastic beers.

On Thursdays, UpCountry hosts the pint night with a unique glass that varies week by week. Clients will absolutely purchase a featured beer and they could keep the glass. In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist monthly with Bad Craft, an artist shop positioned in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery showcases one artist each month to show their artwork in UpCountry's taproom for display as well as for buy. Once you've taken the family and friends to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We are always proud to host solo musicians including Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We also love hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes! It will include different bands including The Dirty Dead, The Paper Crowns and Phuncle Sam. We also have other bands that we love to host like The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Wish to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.

Aside from hosting live music, it is already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is known for live streaming music, but it is extra focus on when Phish plays. They are going to pull down the big projection screen to be able to stream the show and clear all the chairs and tables in the music room so everybody can dance freely. Other live streams the brewery is really recognized for would include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!

Georgia Bulldogs

If you do not have any idea yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is really a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
