UpCountry Brewing was established by John Cochran in 2016 and he is popularly referred to as among the best in the craft beer industry since nineties. John actually worked with beer-related jobs in his twenty years in brewing and he is quite excited to return to his roots by providing a small, local brewery centering on fun times, fantastic beers and good friends. UpCountry Brewing is now found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it is a tap room, music venue and a brewery.
UpCountry Brewing can offer a lot of beer styles, that may include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and more. With approximately 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is considering making new beers for everybody to enjoy. UpCountry provides flights, goblets, pints, and even a twenty-two ounce pour in the taproom. Additionally, the brewery has beer to go for buy! Beer to go features a growler with your preference of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Aside from live music, we have got a yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry can pick a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry already worked several organizations including Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will be hosting the pint night with a unique glass that could change every week. Clients can purchase a featured beer and they could also keep the glass, with 10 percent profit going to the featured nonprofit. Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the neighboring places like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist monthly with Bad Craft, an artist shop located in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will be exhibiting one artist a month to show their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for buy and display. Together with a month long campaign, each artists gets a delegated Pint Night at the brewery along with at Bad Craft. The artist of the month can show and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist will be available. UpCountry will always support the local music, art and beer in the area and will continue doing this in the foreseeable future. Community and business relationships are incredibly essential to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, along with the UpCountry staff, so the brewery looks forward to continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is proud to provide live, local music almost every night. If you are going to take your family and friends members to tourist spots including Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, you may always bring them to UpCountry for a night of Bluegrass, Music bingo, Open Mic, and live local music. We are always proud to host solo musicians including Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We even host those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. Other bands that we love to host include The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Wish to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Together with hosting live music, it is no secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans! The brewery was known for live streaming music, but it is sensitive to Phish plays. They pull down the huge projection screen to stream the show and clear the chairs and tables in the music room so everybody can dance. Other live streams the brewery is definitely known for could include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

UpCountry's latest logo re-design is the best thanks to the Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done a phenomenal job with developing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
If you don't know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. You must keep an eye out because Cochran will unquestionably wear his jersey.
