UpCountry Brewing was first established in 2016 by craft beer industry veteran John Cochran. John has a wide experience with regards to beer-related jobs because he's been in this industry for more than 20 years so he is quite excited to go back to his roots by providing a local brewery focusing on fantastic beer, fun times and good friends.
UpCountry Brewing is a brewery, taproom, and music venue found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We like to claim that we brew our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it is the brewery located furthest west prior to leaving Beer City itself.
UpCountry Brewing can offer different beer styles like porters, sours, saisons, IPAs, stouts and many more. We've got over 20 beers on the top and we're constantly thinking and making new beers for the locals of Asheville. UpCountry Brewing also provides flights, pints, goblets and also a 22-ounce pour in the taproom.
Also, the brewery have some beers to go available. This features a growler with your choice of beer or cans of the Mangose, Hop Dread Red IPA, UpCo Lager or Bogey Free Session IPA. UpCountry Brewing beer may also be purchased anywhere in your community like supermarkets, bottle shops, bars and more. UpCountry has worked with organizations such as Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry can be hosting the pint night with a unique glass that could change every week. Clients purchase a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with ten percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is essential, and these pint nights are just one way for the brewery to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the neighboring areas like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly together with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery showcases one artist every month to show their artwork in UpCountry's taproom for display as well as for buy. Aside from the month long campaign, the artist can also get a delegated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. We also love hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes! These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. We also have other bands that we love to host like The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Wish to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Aside from hosting live music, it is already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery has been known for live streaming music, but it is extra attention to when Phish plays. They pull down the big projection screen to stream the show and clear the chairs and tables in the music room so everybody can dance. Other live streams the brewery is definitely noted for could include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will invariably encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

UpCountry's latest logo re-design have been the best and it is all thanks to Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an exceptional job with designing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. You need to stay tuned as there are several more canning designs which are on the way.
For those who do not know, UpCountry Brewing's owner, John Cochran, is a DAWG Alum! UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. You need to keep an eye out because Cochran will certainly wear his jersey.
